Please no generalized bashing of LEOs - I've been assured that you will be banned for doing so.  Also, I don't want to see this one locked as the last one was.

If I were to come up behind a random individual, and strike him in the back of the head several times with a long gun, a few strikes of which were performed when he was on the ground, what would I be charged with, as a non-LEO?

If the guy getting the beat-down is a known 88 [hence the sieg heil comment by the cop] then maybe the popo had prior run-ins with this guy that led up to this further escalating the situation.

If it's only because of a noisy car alarm, then
that's f'd up....

Hmmm...

I think car alarms should be banned.  The owners never hear them, or care.  It's everyone else who has to lie awake for hours listening to the goddamned things.

Quite honestly, I'd like to buttstroke the inconsiderate assholes who leave their car alarms to go off all night long.

IMO, the guy was either drunk, high or some type of mental case. If I'm towing his vehicle in a stiuation like that I would rather have eyes on than watching for him over my shoulder.

Firearms owernship might be low in Detroit by it's 50%+ here.

This is actual footage of two police officers from Melvindale, Michigan (one of whom remains on the force, the other was discharged after fixing tickets in exchange for sexual favors).
They are seen and heard, and the closed captioning illustrates, trying to coax a man from his home so they can beat him.

You can hear the radio softly playing on the video. This preliminary footage demonstrates how they planned to get him out of his home later by illegally towing his truck from his driveway in order to "beat him to death" and "shove this flashlight right up his asshole." The tell him he is "creating a disturbance" although it is not an offense to be "creating a disturbance" in your own home.
Just before they leave, one officer gives the Nazi salute of "Zeig Heil" for the camera, and you can hear them and discuss how they're going to come back later, get him out of his house to justify a charge of "public disturbance" and beat him.

From the video leading up to it. Sounds like the cops did get in trouble - but the reasons for the events are not crystal clear.

The way he hit him when he was down, I would have assumed attempted murder. I guess it depends on the context of the situation though.

Well, seeing as how this thread is drawing our resident "JBT" callers like moths to a flame and I addressed several issues in the (now locked) original thread, I'll let Bama handle this one.

Quoted:

You can hear the radio softly playing on the video.

I heard "Hey nineteen" by Steely Dan playing at a rather elevated level myself. I also heard the voice of someone towards the end shouting "Nobody's home". IMPO the voice slurring was typical of someone who was at or near the point of intoxication or suffering from a hypoglycemic episode.

This preliminary footage demonstrates how they planned to get him out of his home later by illegally towing his truck from his driveway in order to "beat him to death" and "shove this flashlight right up his asshole."

Actually, I don't remember them stating that ("illegally towing")...

I do remember several comments as described above. I will take a guess that the victim in this case was a "frequent customer" that they'd had to deal with before.

That said, the conduct seen throughout the videso was unwarranted.

"Regulars" are a part of the job.

The tell him he is "creating a disturbance" although it is not an offense to be "creating a disturbance" in your own home.

If he was running around the inside of his house naked, covered in feathers from  pillow and maple syrup he'd have been left alone in his furry fantasy.

As it was, the other thread stated the original reason the PD arrived was due to the repeated / continuous sounding of the victim's car alarm.

If the call was for the car alarm repeateadly sounding, and he refused to silence it after determining that there was no attempt at theft, how is that different that NWA at 135 Db on a stereo system blasting through the hood? Both are under control of the owner of the vehicle.

That said, I only heard the alarm sounding briefly during the 1st video. Of course, like many other things (including this "description") it appears to be slightly less than 100% objective. The alarm may have been sounding for quite some time before the footage we see starts.

Just before they leave, one officer gives the Nazi salute of "Zeig Heil" for the camera, and you can hear them and discuss how they're going to come back later, get him out of his house to justify a charge of "public disturbance" and beat him.

If it hadn't been followed by the events as recorded, that would have been distasteful. As it played out, it's wrong.

From the video leading up to it. Sounds like the cops did get in trouble - but the reasons for the events are not crystal clear.

As I mentioned above, the "description" is slightly editorial in quality, and I'd love to see the entire video from 10 minutes before the knock on the door all the way through the end.

I still agree that the hits with the shotty were grossly unwarranted.

Oops. I suppose, as an "apoligist" (sic) I should hide behind the ________ and say that he deserved it, if only to fulfill the tinfoil fantasies of the badge beaters here.

The lead in video is heavily edited. Numerous comments by the LEO's are in obvious response to something the person inside the house has said but his comments were edited out. While many of the comments are not professional they are far from criminal. Later when they come back for the truck it's obvious the previous statements were nothing more than banter. He was not immediately beat down. The man was told why the truck was being towed. I lost track of the number of times the officer asked often saying please for the man to go back inside the house.

At the point he was told he was under arrest based on whatever their state laws that apply. The hit to the head/spine area is violation of most UoF rules that I know of that do not involve deadly force.
