I went to MEPS for the second time today. Once again I failed my hearing portion of the processing. Recruiter is working on getting me a waiver. Not sure if I will be able to get it.

If I get a waiver would that limit my job selection (Army)?. If I can't get 11b, airbourne opt. 40 I may not join.

I have been pretty bummed out all week that I can't pass it. Hearing loss sucks,

lol...

What sucks about my hearing loss is its only on deep tones. So I have trouble hearing a lot of older men and such. Women I can hear clear as day. Which is a good thing.

Just sucks ass that I can't get in the Army like I wanted.

FWIW it isn't my fault my hearing is toast. When I was 6 weeks old I had an ear infection. Treated by a doctor yadda yadda. Mom was told to take me home. Well I started to get a high fever 100+. Doctor said its normal wait till the morning the antibodics will kick in. By morning I was 104 degrees. Mom goes to rush me to the ER. Fever of 105.5 by the time I get there. I actually stopped breathing at one point and my mother gave me CPR.

I am just lucky I am not brain dead. Still got straight A's through high school and B's in college. Without hearing shit lol.

Seems like your never going to get in and are just going to keep asking those should I join questions.

I barely passed my hearing test. The doc told me one more Metallica concert and it would have been over with.

I do want to join. I knew I had bad hearing but I didn't think it was that bad. I tried my best to get in. I had cotton balls in my ears all night before and all day before the test. Helped my left ear but I guess my right ear is shot.

I guess I still may get in if the "waiver" goes through. I'm still bummed out.

What are you trying to join? The AF will waive anything if you join the right carreer field. Say you agree to join combat control, which is always critically manned, with a hearing waiver. You then fail out of combat control right. Well, they just stick you in anything else. It is easy to grt in if you know what your doing.
