Don't even get me started. Finding Indian food in this cultural wasteland is like finding a conservative in Hollywood.

Just stay away from the place next to the verterinary clinic!

Just kidding...wife can't eat anything even remotely spicy, so I totally abuse my stomach with good vindaloo whenever I'm on the road.

THey make these little meat things, called sheik kabobs,

and there are basically like lamb sausage w/ spices.

Not hot at all at first, but damn, that there is a slow burn.

Chikken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Basmati Rice, Nan.

Shutup stomach you'll get food in a little while.

West Texas may be great for Tex Mex, but Goddamn what I wouldn't give for some good oriental places.

It's not kabob....it's kebab. And further more it's shish (sheesh) kebab

Glad to see some of you Yanks actually like Indian cuisine.
Here in Britain, I'm surrounded with Indian restaurants.
Far better than chinese.

Agreed.

ETA:  On second thought, Thai food is bearable but Indian food is just not for me, although they are very similar, or so I am told.

He's got a point here. Best Indian food I've ever had was in London.

If you want to know where the closest Indian rest is....just ask at the nearest motel! 90% of the motels in the USA are owned/managed by Patels. Especially Super8's and Ramadas.

I make a pretty good tandori chicken when I can get ghram masala.

I love Indian food.  My mother's Hungarian and she is an incredible cook.  We used to eat a lot of Hungarian and Indian food in my house.

I bought this book:

It has some excellent recipes from southern India.

I made Kerala Fried Fish and Spinach Dhal this past weekend.  I smother it with yogurt that I spice up with chopped hot peppers from the garden.  It is absolutely delightful.

Ironically, I grew up with a guy who is Indian but his mother's cooking sucked hard.

There opnly similarities are they both use curry. That being said, Indian curries and Thai curries are very different.

Aye.

Oddly enough, I was able to get both from good places in Montgomery, Alabama and State College, PA. Never quite figured that out.

If it's done good, it's good. If done badly, it's awful though.

I'd rather have THAI food...

Indian food has too much of a herbal taste and I get tired of it quickly
