Im not even sure if I like this guy but he did say tonight he will never take a phone caller who wants to talk about gun rights...this is after he spoke of Fineswine and her attempt to trash our rights.  What an ass.

Dude, Savage is on our side 100%.

Did he say why, or are you leaving that out?  I've heard him make pro-gun statements on many occasions.  He talked about his AR15 and 1911 one night not too long ago.

If he said that I'm sure its just because he doesn't want to talk about it, especially with people who agree with him.  I listened a little tonight and he was bitching about Dubya going along with this AWB bullshit.  He is with us.

He is all about ratings.  Of course, that's his job.

That being said.... I think he is a self centers, self loving, elitist hate-monger in a lot of ways, and I can never make it through his show without turning him off...

Only way to get on his show is to tell him how great he is, and how much you respect him and what he does.  Narcisist.

Savage is a loudmouth. O'Reilly is not loud at all.

OReilly is a moderate conservative - is the new "in word" for that now neo-con? Whatever. [rolleyes] What has Savage said that makes you think he's a moderate or fake or pseudo or "neo" conservative? Savage is about the only guy on radio who actually talks about the dreaded "C" and "R" words practically every day.

And saying they only care about ratings is like saying Bushmaster only cares about turning a profit. It's what they do - it's their business.

O'Reilly was enamored interviewing O'Donell and was actually blushing while interviewing Garafalo. [puke]

Bushmaster makes profits off of their reputation and quality product, not screaming at the top of their lungs, being obnoxious, and repeating the same bullshit over and over.

So what he says is bullshit?  Funny, the stuff he talks about is the same stuff people on here bitch about all the time.  Loss of liberty, raising of taxes, idiot liberals, etc. Sure, the way he presents his points may get on some peoples nerves, but the message usually right on.  I've only found myself disagreeing with him a few times.  One thing that comes to mind is a national ID card.  He is in favor of it and I'm not.

Savage is on target with a lot of topics, but when he starts screaming and calling the opposition names it doesn't help his credibility.  He'll be on a roll and I'll be thinking, "Yeah!  Right!  Go for it!"  Then when he starts letting his emotions override his reason I cringe.

I remember him going into an unrestrained tirade because conservative outlets (Newsmax.com, WorldNetDaily, etc.) didn't go orgasmic over his TV debut.

His political views are generally on target, but he tends to make conservatives look like nuts from time to time.

The guy is passionate about his beliefs.  He speaks his mind and doesn't care what others think.  He doesn't try to be PC and censor himself.  I suppose too many "conservatives" are used to the tame Rush Limbaugh.  I guess if you dare get excited or raise your voice a little about a subject, you're an extremist nut.

I think for the longest time he must have never gotten any recognition for his achievement.  Not from his family or colleagues.  So now that he has a huge radio and TV audience, he like to toot his own horn.  I just take it in stride.  It's just part of his show.  I instead focus on the message.

I also think too many people just gloss over what he says and don't really get what he's saying.

OReilly is a moderate conservative

Bill O’Reilly is in no way, shape, or form a conservative of any kind.

He is a populist ass that will support any position that he believes is on the upswing.

He is for government hand holding programs, gun control, increased taxes in many instances ect… He is not a conservative.

I agree 100%, at least with O'Reilly.  That guy is blatantly anti-gun.

As far as Savage, don't really know, haven't listen to him much.  But considering he lives in SF, and went to Berkeley, hmmmmm...

My gut feelings tell me both of them would switch to lib. talk if there was money in it, as they both seem a little too shifty to me.

Now Hannity, from what I've listened to, seems like a straight shooter.

I still don't see why you think Savage is a "neocon". Obnoxious, yes. Repetitious, yes. Bullshit, well if limiting immigration, upholding the Constitution and protecting our Republic are bullshit, then yes.

I'd say 'Oh Really' is only MODERATELY ANTI-GUN.  He is one of those "Ban AK's" types but he occasionally defends the rights of people to own guns to defend their lives and homes.

Remember the guy who was in the process of getting a pistol permit in NY when his family was attacked?  He featured the guy on the show, and stood up for him.

The only disappointment was when he finally said,  'the law is the law', and didn't really speak out against it.

On a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is extremely communist, and 10 is extremely anarchist, I'd say Oh Really is a 4.  Savage is closer to a 7.

BTW - Savage should work to get his ratings even higher, because I want our local radio to carry his show.

I have never made it through a whole Savage show either. He pisses me RIGHT OFF. I have made it through many O'Reilly shows. He pisses me off too. But Savage is truly deserving of his last name, the guy is WAY OVERBOARD sometimes. I agree with most of his politics, but I get tired of the "on your knees and worship me" tirades that he goes off on. The guy loses it daily...

Havent heard or seen the show (don't have much free time), but let me put this out for you:

By my being a member here, I think you can safely assume I am a pro-gun conservative.  If I had a radio talk show/TV show, I would be VERY selective about the pro-gun people I had on, or allowed to call in--the Reasons are very simple.  95% of any political group has foot-in-mouth disease.  Look at the next gunshow you go to--see all the guys in cammo wearing "kill them all, let god sort them out" T-Shirts or spouting off about how we should kill off all the ***, XXX, ### and let the good people (insert your ethnic/racial/religion here) have the country.  Or maybe talking about how they killed thousands of gooks when the government had to code-name them "Agent Orange" in the 'Nam.  Those are the Pro-gun guys who have the foot-in-mouth disease.  (Don't feel bad, look at the next PETA protest, and you'll see their guys with the same disease.)  If I was going to bring pro-gun individuals onto my show, it would be people like John Lott, etc. who can express their views very well and be pursuasive in an arguement, not someone who is going to turn off the undecideds with a few stupid words.

I agree, Dr. Laura is more fundamentally sound than either O'Reilly or Savage.  I think when you look at O'Reilly criticially he's more of a pragmatic populist and of the elitist bent.  He could easily make a statement in one breath where he defends the right of people to own SUVs and in the next breath deny your right to own an M-16, saying, "no one NEEDS an M-16."

On the positive side he WILL make some moral stands.  They may not be practical but they point us in the right direction.
