When looking at the pic taht took up half the interweb, I noticed some serious mud on the muzzle.

Sweet pic regardless.

I can recall a few years ago people saying the M-14 was only around a short time, and played a minor role in history prior to the M-16 replacing it..   They can't say that after the last few years of use.

As the proud new owner of a "Scout" model, I agree.

A new "finest battle implement ever devised!"

Why did I suddenly start singing this to the old school house rock "lolly lolly lolly get your adverbs here" song?

Looks like it has a selector switch so you might not be able to find one to buy and if you did it would be mighty expensive. Neat picture of a great rifle in the field. Neat rails, hey where are the beamz, no beamz ?

Worst scope mounting method ever! That receiver has got to flex.

I KNOW intellectually that it's a superb battle firearm - but whenever I look at one, it somehow viscerally feels like a Tapco-pimped Garand.

My son uses one at the Naval academy for drill.  All the kids have one.  There is a steel rod shoved down the barrel and welded and no firing pin.

My original comment was for the inital pic, not yours. I like the AimPoint on a scout mount, and the KAC rail makes it better.

But mounting a scope with attachement points at the strip clip guide thing and the front of the reciever has got to make that Leupold flex.

Except in Sandy Environments, and only for close ranges. Otherwise it is the M14.

The first phot is ALSO a KAC rail.
