Ive always liked a completely blacked out bike, but i do have silver components on mine and i think it adds to the appearance.

whats the matter with the existing set? wore out the BB, figured go ahead and upgrade the crank as well |

Black if you do more xc, silver if you do more downhill w/ rocks.
Odds are - it will get a bit more scratched up if you downhill ride, so silver would hide the scratches. ETA: Looks like you are in TN - so my bet would be xc, so therefore black. I know the smokies are in TN - but they aren't as rocky or jagged as the mountains in the southwest. |

I have completely worn off the finish on the crank arms from my shoes rubbing. Still not sure which way to go |
|
Get both. Damn what's going on around here?
ETA nice bike OP. I'd go with the black. |
|
Black.
Ignore the guys that say silver hides the scratches. To me it's a badge of honor to show you actually ride. Plus black looks so much better. |
|
I've got the black Race Face stuff on my 2006 Giant Reign 2, ride the mess out of it, and it still looks good. Any scratches in the finish are well earned.

|
Is muddy a color? Cause thats what I am gonna go with.
Also: black |
|
I would go with silver just for the fact that you will wear it with your shoes. I had black on my last bike with a sweet shiny spot.
|
|
Black.
You just wanted to show off your sweet ride, didn't you? |

The positive to the silver would be that the appearance would hold up longer, but I am indifferent. What say the cyclists of GD? Nice bike! I'd go with black.... |
|
well apparently one of yall beat me to it, they aren't showing black as an option anymore
that's what I get for slacking |

It's supposed to wear specifically so you don't damage more important parts (like the frame, for example).... |

Quoted: Is muddy a color? Cause thats what I am gonna go with. Muddy works, I came back from one ride years ago and I was so covered in mud I could barely move. I think me and the bike gained about 50lbs. I vote for black, just because it matches the rest of what's there. So what if finish wears off eventually, just makes it look well used. Silver is too... shiny. If I want to be seen, I'll put some obnoxious flashing light on it I need a new bike... All I have right now is a $100 dept store special, and it's half rusty right now anyway. |

BB and chainrings are wear items that are cheap to replace. |

Some are worse than others. I use the infamous Dura Ace 7700 BB that wears out in under 10,000 miles. Newer ones have better bearings and better seals, but even a top of the line Dura Ace 7900 BB retails for only $33. I'm not counting the gimmicky stuff like ceramic bearing items. |

Hell yeah some are worse than others! I need more saddle time myself. Getting to be the weather I like riding 6-8 hours a day on the weekend.... That is if I am not hunting! |

Or Chris King BB, $130... Nirvana now there is a plan how worn are your chain rings? if they are looking shark finny then a CK BB and rings would be good but then the driveline skipping demon appears |

My Prophet is all black, its my "steath" bike
My road bike is blue, and it is very quiet, "have blue" |

The teeth are fine it's just like grinding feeling in the BB |
