I have an older friend that just called me and asked me what his Rockola M1 Carbine is worth. I think he is taking it to a gun store to sell-said someone is interested in it. I don't want him to taken. Any help would be appreciated. How much is it worth?

Did it grow legs before it could be arsenal overhauled?  Import marked?  Unmolested?

Easier question:  Bayonet lug or no lug?

I have handled it during the summer. Nice shape. Don't know about the lug. Unfortunately stock was poly coated

He needs to be careful not to get taken.

If it's in original condition it's worth several thousand.

Even if it's a typical CMP arsenal refurb there's going to be a big premium for a Rock-ola, easily over $1000 IMO.

I don't have any up to date carbine books, but Rockola should be way up there in value, as in the rarest.

Funny a jukebox and vending machine company making weapons of war, but they were all made to the same specs.

Honestly hard to give a proper assessment without pics and/or part breakdown. A early run Rockola in original condition would be big bucks. Even an early correct one would be worth 2-3 grand due to rariety. A late model refurbished mix master would only be in the 700 - 1k range.

Sorry OP but there's a lot of variables there. Flip sight? Bayonet lug? Type stock (high wood or low), barrel maker and condition, import marked. These all make a big difference

Same with Singer 1911s. Top of the heap on quality and most valuable.

From "U.S. M1 Carbines: Military Production" by Craig Riesh:

Rock-Ola total production M1 was 228,500

Compare that to the Inland Division of GM with 1,984,189

Just because the receiver is a Rockola, doesn't mean the rest is.

The value will be determined by a LOT of,things. How correct is it? Import? Condition (nice doesn't cut it)? Etc., etc.

Given arsenal overhaul and unknown factors, I'm pegging it at $800-1200.
