Actually the muzzle brake is not worthless.  I find that it is more useful than the flash suppressor that originally came with it.  It reduces recoil and muzzle rise noticeably.

I thought they counted detachable mags as a evil feature so wouldn't that make it 3 evil features and in that it wouldn't  be illegal to have a bayonet?

Postban M1A means no bayonet.  There's no lug and the feds frown on people replacing the flash suppressor with one with a bayo lug.  You'd think they have other things to think about . . .
