Buy one of these:

http://www.dsarms.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=STG58STD&storeid=1&image=AusFALR.gif

$5 magazines is something to consider too...

Then build one of these:

http://www.model1sales.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=KCE16M&storeid=1&image=car16prem16.gif&CFID=6291560&CFTOKEN=17262139

You'll need a stripped lower from one of the dealers on the equipment exchange of course.

Have money left over for some of this:

http://www.ammoman.com/index.htm

Then you'll have a two decent weapons instead of one expensive one (M1A), or three rifles that are good, but limited by the round they shoot (AR-15).

You've got ARs covered, so maybe an M1 Garand in .308 and FAL to have .308 covered. You could have one of each for the cost of an M1A.

I'll go along with this. Bought 2 in the past 6 months. A 4 digit SN NM SA [unfired] and a 1989 dated walnut stocked "GI" with very little use with all USGI parts on it. Both are excellent weapons. You can find safe queens out there for between 1K to 1.5K if you look hard and carry cash. One that is a good deal will NOT last very long.

EXACTLY!!! Many ( not all ) of the NEW M1A's are pretty sucky by the reports....if you can get an old one with G.I. components then do it.....

So, let's pretend it has TRW, HRA and WRA components...

here's what you can do:

1 GOOD GI'd M1A

Build one excellent AR

get accessories for both...........

Sounds like you have your modern rifles covered with the current ar's and ak's. Unless you are planning on a nitch varient (and ar10, a 458 socom, a beowulf), I would go with a long range tachical rifle (also know as a deer rifle), if you have not already gotten one. Also rember, your collection will never be complete w/o at least one 50 cal.

After reviewing your lineup, many people would say the following:
a) Add some semiauto 7.62x51 (either M1A, AR10, FAL, etc)
b) Swap out at least 2 of the Mini-14's either for AR's, AK's or 7.62x51
