There are only 2 M14 mags that work.
USGI and Chinese copies. Stay away from the USA brand blued steel junk. |

Someone please tell me WHY M1A mags are so M-Fing expensive? God Damn, that is the main reason I haven't bought an M1A.

If you can find them, the Thermolds work okay too. The Norinco's are okay, and $10 cleaper on average, but you know, buy American is my motto.

They are expensive because there just aint that many out in the public as compared to M-16 magazines, and nobody is making new ones that are any good. Most of the mags the govt. had were sent to Bosnia et al with the rifles and parts, to arm their "Police" forces. Ditto on the Chinese mags, just as good as U.S.G.I.. I've heard the same thing about the thermolds but I have never seen one.

It could be because, aside from the Navy, the M14 has been out of service for 25-30 years, which means the surplus mags have largely dried up. Then, add to that the fact that thousands of M1As get sold every year, each one creating an owner who wants some of those mags. Demand continues to increase, and the supply is fixed and running out. Due to the 94 Krime Bill, no new product can be made to fill the demand, so prices naturally rise. This will happen with AR15 mags someday too. In 1993, people laughed at me when I suggested that a Glock 17 hi-cap mag might be worth $100 someday... -Troy |
