M1A1 Tanks Drifting in Snow

Looks like fun.

Went through fire apparatus driver training in those conditions.   When that ass starts to slide in a pumper, takes a whole lot to get it to come back.  Wheel cranked all the way into the skid, ass still sliding out, plenty of time to think about whether or not you are going to save this one.

That shit is only fun when you do it on purpose

Trying to talk your driver through "over correcting" and freaking the fuck out (driver) because tou are suddenly side slipping down a hill at 45 mph (while hoping that the track doesn't find something to flip it or weak ice over deep mud) from the tc hatch is extra super fun

Or not

I can tell you that breaking/fixing track in -20 sucks serious ass though

While not quite the same, we used to 'pad up' our M113A2's and do the same type of drivers training!  It was fun, but I would be willing to bet the doing the same in the M1A1 would really be fun!!!!!!

Kind of neat to see a 63 ton tank skate on ice at a pretty decent speed. Just shows that that bitch was and still is the best shit out there. Would have been neat to see the cannon tracking a target while drifting.
