Nikon mount.

I have fast short range lens's, fast longer range len's, but nothing in between that's fast.  Don't need or want current production since the prices are high, so looking for a mid range lens that is a few years old, but still gets the job done.   Nikon, Tamron, Sigma.......all are fine to me.

What is the diamond in the ruff lens I should be looking for?

The nifty fifty.......50 f/1.8G

Fast, sharp as heck, and cheap.

Everybody should have one.

What is your budget and need for it to fill, other than midrange zoom?

Trying to keep it under $400.   Thinking family reunions.   Parades.  Something where i have just a smidge of reach, but not wanting to lug around the 70-200 G2.

DX for FX?

I had (still have, actually) the 18-105 f/3.5-5.6 for a few years as my midrange zoom; it's pretty sharp and pretty cheap ($250 used/refurbed) but it's DX only.

Are you using full frame or DX?

This makes the 24-120 f/4 a standout choice for you. Again, buy it used. It can be had for about half what a new one costs.

Thanks.   As much as I want the D500, gonna wait I guess until it comes down in price a bit more.   I may regret this decision.

Gonna go track that lens down.    Thank u.
