This baby is ready for the pot!  The biggest Maine Lobster (live) I have ever seen!  With a 1911 full size Kimber for reference!

I figure another 1/2 hour for the water to boil, and 20 minutes in the pot!  Man, nights like this will make a man be glad to be alive!

Man that does look good, I want before and after pics.

Which begs the question "are you gonna have to shoot it to get it to cooperate?"

ETA : Hey why are all your pics date-stamped for the 6 of Dec?  I hope you didn't just let this guy sit around until now....

Holy shit!  She must have traded her 1911 for something that huge!

I'm so cheap I'd likely go the Homer Simpson route to lobster.

That is one big-assed bug, but I have confidence that the Kimber is up to the task.

DAMN!!! Sadly I do not enjoy lobster (living in Maine is a big waste).

I ain't wearing it for an earring, I didn't shoot it, and I'm still waiting for the water to boil!  And I don't think (or care) if it's 100 years old.  Even Moses died

I've always loved shrimp, crab, etc. and wanted to try lobster, but never had the chance before.

It's rough being poor.

Why would you want to eat a giant bug?

ETA: I was forced to eat lobster once before. The meat in the claws was alright, but everything else was just nasty.

ETA again: Shellfish give me the runs.

I saw one in the tank at a fish place a couple months ago that they said weighed 19+ pounds, I want to say it was around $450 lol. It made even the other good sized lobsters in the tank look puny

Damn fine!  It is bigger than most cats!  Post pics of it after you install the sunburn.  Good eatin', man.

that is a nice looking lobster. next time try to get a pacific lobster (no claws). the tail on a maine lobster is not very big in relation to the rest of the body. much of the weight is in the claws. maine lobster is better than no lobster though. i'm hungry now.

That is a decent sized bull.  It appears to be near the maximum size we are allowed to keep in Maine. 5 inches from rear of eye socket to back of shell.  A lot of people prefer the bigger bulls, but many people say they taste bitter compared to an average 1 1/2 lb lobster.  One that size I would have split the shell, put butter on it, then baked it.  Either way I've never had a bad lobster personally, and I have caught a few (thousand).

You gotta relax it before you boil it or it will be tough. I used to have a Chef that worked for me who would sing to the fuckin things as he gently dipped them into the boiling water. No shit. Same with crabs. He said they are a lot more tender if they are relaxed when it goes in.

By the way, he used to put just a drop of Grand Merne' into the clarified butter. It was da bomb!
