A blast from my past.  Found it on the shelf and had to bring it home.

Growing up I always had about 10 .22lr guns to choose from and this model was my favorite.  Years ago the bolt hand broke and I haven't been able to find one.  When I saw the price on this gun, and how clean it was, I had to buy it.

Don't know what it is, but it looks cool.
My CZ FS .22LR has a special place in my heart.

Good for you OP.

I think I have the exact same gun.

Mossberg 151M-B

One of the original ghost guns.  It has no serial number.

They were made from 1948 to 1954.

A buddy had one of those growing up. Absolute tack driver and probably the quietest unsuppressed .22's I ever shot.

I have too many .22s and even I'd buy at that. Good score

Nice job OP!

How does it transfer with no SN? I'm aware some older guns don't have them, but curious about how that works

Nice old Mossberg, OP! I have a thing for vintage .22s as well.

The last time I purchased a rifle with no serial number, the shop had it on their books and transferred it to me as "NSN" - no serial number.

That rifle looks familiar.  Was this sold under some store brandings?

My dad has, and I will get, a Mossberg 42a.  We've been buying small parts to restore it piece by piece.

That makes sense.

You know why the Russian SN on my Saiga wasn't good enough and it had to have a new SN engraved on it upon import?

(Sorry, OP, don't mean to derail your thread, but you'll get another bump for your sweet new gun!)

It's possible those fell afoul of ATF's ruling that serial numbers couldn't contain "special characters". Russian serials occasionally can contain Cyrillic characters the ATF doesn't like. This is why all Mosins coming in these days are given new serials.

Same rifle was sold under Montgomery Wards "Western Field" line. I inherited one that was a jamomatic before I took it all apart and scrubbed out all the petrified WD-40 that my dad and grandad always used for gun lube. Has various front sight styles that flip up so you can choose which one you prefer. Pic is off the net but my sights are similar.

The guy behind the counter said, "No serial number"  when the counter girl was looking for it.  He had to say it twice and then they finished the paperwork and that was that.  Total time from touching the gun and walking out the door was about 8 minutes.  That counter girl could have sold me that Christenson Arms Carbon Fiber rifle if she tried hard enough, I would have hung out just to chat.  She was that nice...
