See how the BUIS is sort of offset, rather than centered as it is on the TA01NSN?

Could I take those and switch them out with those on the TA01NSN and still expect them to successfully function as intended? Or are they for the ECOS only?

My buddy has one like that. IMO it is wayyyyyyyyyyy to "busy".

No because the RDS mount is required...

Nice PINKISH/ROSE ACOG though....

The mount on that ACOG is garbage.

I'm relocating my Doc sight behind the ACOG on an offset rail. The scope itself will only have the BUIS on top, but I like the way it looks on the ECOS better because of the lower elevation it has compared to the NSN's BUIS.

I was wondering if I could simply switch the parts out.

Are you sure? If you look at the rear sight, it looks like it's just screwed down into the base/scope itself, where the left "leg" of the rearsight on the NSN would go.

That's not mine by the way, mine's black.

Good lord... just get an aimpoint.

ACOG for mid-long range shots, Doc on a 45-degree offset rail mount for CQB/close range shots, BUIS on the scope because it seemed like a "why the hell not/can't hurt to still have irons" type of thing.

I just realized the folding sight was in that picture. Yeah, I can agree with that. The scope alone has everything you'd need.

Well it's not like he can use the folding sight while the scope is still attached.

Nice setup. I'd say get a Larue mount for it, but I heard someone said bad things about it and he isn't selling them anymore.

No shit, spend that much money on a great scope with redundant back ups than use POS mounts

I ran a carbine course with my TA31A and did fine using it in close quarters. I just used it like one of those old Armson OEGs. There is really no need for additional red dots and all that with a ACOG. That one has way too much going on IMO.

my buddy brought that with him to Afghanistan. he liked it.
his "wo workers" all gave him shit as he has money, and bought the best to bring with him.
the droptic is nice, but idk if its worth the added cost over the TA01 NSN iron sights

For some reason there is a lot of ACOG hate going on here.  Normally everyone is showing their cock to show how much they love the ACOG and pontificating about how buying the highest priced optic on the market makes them the uber tacticool high speed low drag operator they all think they are.

I wish I could afford a setup like that (not in the pimp gold color though...) but am quite happy with my EOTech.

If all your shit fails, you're probably fucked anyhow. Not to mention more money in your sights than in the rifle..

I've never tried it, but looking at the pic it seems like it should be removeable. The question is this: Who sells the original "sight simulators" to try and do the swap?

Wish I knew where to start looking.

It's not so much the ACOG they're hating but the mount it resides in.  As if 90% of Arfcom's ARMS levers explode as soon as they tell their wives they're going to the range...

The red dot is meant for applications when the ACOG's magnification is a pain in the neck. The "sight simulations" on the side are in case the red dot dies. Running the setup pictured is slightly more pleasant than a root canal...but only slightly.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why the Short Dot was invented. By the time you buy that optic and the piggyback optic and replace that useless mount with a decent LaRue mount (Yes...I said LaRue...Yes, I'm aware of the nonsense going on in the Industry forum...) you may as well just buy a short dot and be done with it. Ditto Aimpoints and magnifiers.

If you'll never need to shoot at anything under 50 yards, the ACOG is an awesome optic. All that other stuff is an attempt to make it more useful in a close quarters role.

Thanks John for jumping in and answering this question for the op. I think it was a valid question that was being hijacked till you gave an informative response.
