Attached File South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham thinks his party will win the runoff election in Georgia's 6th Congressional District, but believes Tuesday night's vote should be a wake-up call to southern Republicans. Graham said on NBC Wednesday Democrat Jon Ossoff's first-place showing in the primary election is a sign that the south is changing. Ossoff got 48 percent of the vote, just short of the 50 percent needed to win the election outright, without a runoff. "The south is changing. Atlanta is changing. And I like our chances in a runoff, but we need to wake up as a party," Graham said. "There's districts like this all over the country that are getting much more moderate." Ossoff will face Karen Handel, the top Republican vote-getter in the race, in a June special election for the seat that had been held by Rep. Tom Price, who is now President Trump's secretary of health and human services. Graham said he's a fan of Handel's and thinks she'll likely win in June as long as all Republican voters coalesce behind her. Still, he said Republican leaders should take notice of Ossoff's strong finish. "I like her chances of winning this thing but this should be a wake-up call to the Republican Party in the south," he said. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/lindsey-graham-georgia-primary-should-be-a-wake-up-call/article/2620638 |

Obviously it has nothing to do with there being 5 candidates on one side and 1 on the other.

The people of Arizona and South Carolina should hang their heads in shame

He'd be the expert on that. He keeps getting reelected here because Democrats get to vote in the Republican primaries.

View Quote We can have "Rah Rah" internal pep rallies here all day, or we can look at the results honestly and adapt. This election was not a good one for Republicans. This should be a "safe" seat for them. Now, with a contest between just the two top vote recipients, the question will be whether or not Trump supporters will show up and vote for a "RINO". The Democrats right now are stoked up and militant; they garnered enough votes to have their candidate to come out on top. Will they be able to capitalize on this and expand their base for the runoff election? |

The douche is partly correct.
The R Party does need to wake up, they need to wake up and come together to get legislation passed. |

Much more than 5. The problem is, and where Graham may have a point, is that the Republicans that gathered the most votes were "mainstream" and Trump supporters did very poorly. This was no win for Trump. We can have "Rah Rah" internal pep rallies here all day, or we can look at the results honestly and adapt. This election was not a good one for Republicans. Do you think a Republican voter went to the poll and said to himself "Gee, there are so many Republicans on this ballot, i just can't choose. I guess I'll just vote for the Democrat" Ossoff did way better than he should have. Everyone will have their own ideas on why that is |

Local television was nothing but Ossoff commercial after Ossoff commercial. The Money managers must have spent a damn fortune backing him. They want this seat so badly that I won't be surprised if people start appearing out of the woodwork claiming that Karen Handel stole from them, beat them, cussed them out, abused them when they were children... I hope her life insurance is paid up and that the Republicans can pony up for some damn good personal security personnel for her. This runoff is going to get ugly. |

Guy on my local "conservative" talk radio station claimed that Paul Ryan won the race for the GOP candidate.

yeah, if only the Republican party had been able to run a more moderate presidential candidate.
then we would not have lost to Hillary. that over-the-top outsider we ran was too much, that's why he lost in a giant landslide oh wait I have an idea: how about we fire every RINO politician in the USA? then we'd have a conservative party instead of a bunch of bank whores and semi-democrats |

Democrats are scaring the elecorate to believe that Trump is literally hitler. It worked for a lot of people in this district. Aside from that this guy spent some cash to get this many votes and still didn't win. That should say something. It has nothing to do with being a "moderate" or an "extremist". View Quote |

The R Party needs to be more consistent on issues of liberty. They also need to message liberty better. The problem is that since many of them don't have a clue about or like liberty, they're not consistent on it and can't message it. In true Party of Stupid form, they continue to do what is both morally wrong and hasn't been working (for them). They become D Light.

It has a LOT to do with being a "moderate" or an "extremist" The Republican vote was spread out across the spectrum and shows a lack of unity. Add to that the Democrats can scare people about Trump means there's a lot of perception of the electorate to turn around. View Quote |
