The only question that should be asked by the court is this:

Who was there first, The US Navy or these fucking cocksucking pieces of shit.
Link Posted: 4/28/2015 4:25:43 PM EDT
I think I read that they have been trying this for years.

Link Posted: 4/28/2015 4:26:54 PM EDT
Some tried this in my AO before the F35s got here.

BTW, those fuckers are LOUD.

Link Posted: 4/28/2015 4:28:21 PM EDT
Love the Navy. Love military aircraft...spent summers in VA beach and loved the constant fly overs...but this sounds like it's probably pretty brutal to live with. I'm not sure what the solution would be since they need to train and fly, but I'd be frustrated if I lived there right now.

Those noise levels, which are uncontested by the Navy, exceed community noise standards established by the State of Washington, the EPA, and the World Health Organization.

The declaration of Dr. James Dahlgren, a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Occupational and Environmental Medicine and Toxicology, states,

“The noise from the Navy’s Growler aircraft landing and taking off from Outlying Landing Field Coupeville, Washington is causing and has caused serious adverse health effects in the residents as described in the thirteen declarations of residents living near the field. As predicted from hundreds of scientific studies of health effects from noise at the levels measured near the OLF Coupeville by JGL Acoustics in 2013, such levels of noise pressure are causing insomnia, anxiety, depression, impaired concentration, hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), hypertension, worsening diabetes, gastrointestinal difficulties and a major decrement in quality of life.”
View Quote

The Navy began Growler operations after conducting a limited and flawed “Environmental Assessment” that falsely predicted Growlers would be fewer and generate less noise than the jets previously used.

I just looked that field up on Google Maps. It has big yellow X's on the runway.

I thought that meant it was deactivated. Or is that just to ward off General Aviation types.

Link Posted: 4/28/2015 4:30:51 PM EDT
Then if they do win they'll wonder why the Navy pulls all of the jobs out of the area, just like Rosey.
Link Posted: 4/28/2015 4:33:01 PM EDT
Yup, they were screaming back in 1982 when I was stationed at NAS Whidbey. Haven't changed any. The wife and visited a couple years ago and the house we stayed at was right under the approach for the Alf. The jets were fun to watch for the first hour. The next 3 sucked. We will just go for a long drive next time.
Link Posted: 4/28/2015 4:33:16 PM EDT
So F-18s are the loudest jets in the world huh? We should fly a few B-1 and F-15E sorties out of there to educate them on what loud really is.
Link Posted: 4/28/2015 4:33:23 PM EDT
In all honesty, the noise gets old quick. (Not saying these peeps are right, Navy was there first I'm sure)
We did a job on the flight line at Eglin years ago. The jet noise was cool for about half a day. It got annoying after that.

Still love it though!!!

Sounds like a list of things that a snake oil fixes.

exquisitely exacerbating the stress reaction which causes a cascade of health effects listed

The stress reaction from hearing jet noise. Quite the delicate little flower.
Link Posted: 4/28/2015 4:41:01 PM EDT
Quite a few of them are transplanted shitbags from other states. They bought the houses / property because the property values are lower in comparison to areas outside of the immediate flight path.
They had to sign an agreement that stated they understood they were buying land / property / house next to an active military runway.

Big difference between El Toro and Whidbey Island.

Look near the north and south ends.

It would appear that what they've done is paint a small area on the runway to simulate the flight deck, since they're just doing touch-and-gos.

The rest of the runway is probably closed, and not terribly well maintained, but still there if someone has an incident and needs to keep the bird down.

They tried here(near redfish86), they got nothing. As redfish mentioned the f-35 is almost as loud as all of the Blue Angels.

I love the flyovers from A-10s, C-130s, F-15s, V-22s & F-35s between Eglin & Tyndall

One of my favorite things about going to the beach

Now THIS would be a good use of EMINENT DOMAIN........

Send'em some earplugs and give them 30 days to vacate the premises, and here's your $0.30 on the $1.00 check for your property. Bye.

From wikipedia

NOLF Coupeville, also known as OLF Coupeville, was commissioned for use by the US Navy in 1943 and currently supports day and night Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) operations by the US Navy EA-18G Growler and EA-6B Prowler electronic warfare aircraft based out of NAS Whidbey Island.

The airfield was most likely built before any of the complainers were born. Of course they had no way of possibly knowing that military aircraft would be conducting flight operations at the field.

And as far as the yellow x's, it probably because the field is only maintained to handle touch and goes : FULL STOP LNDG NOT AUZD UNLESS EMERGENCY.

Not sure anyone has mentioned it yet but the gun club up at Whidbey is by far my favorite in state.

I can't shoot trap well, so I know I make a fool of myself every time I go there, but I love that place.

The USN should ask the USAF to have a squadron of B-1s fly over in line spacing, afterburners on, just under mach 1.
Just because.

This is an awesome RC Model flying field on weekends. Taxiway makes a loooong runway for models. They used to hold annual Turbine Jet Fly-ins there.
You can see the RC part on the south east side of the runway.

I live beside Langley AFB.They have 15s, 16s and 22s, they fly over my house alot. Used to do alot of work in Norfolk and VB. 18s are very fuckin loud compared to these. Besides the traffic, I would not live on the Southside because of that.

The North Whidbey Sportsman's Association has been around since 1928, long before the Navy was here.

Greene's Gun Shop has been around since the early 40's, that's the range you are thinking of.
Old Man Greene passed away in 2004, his wife had had the FFL since then.
She's no longer involved directly with the business.
The range has sucked since I was first on the island in the late 80's.
The gravel pit closed a few years back, so the local libtards have really put the pressure on to close the range.
For a while it was the favorite spot of the local "urban utes" to shoot their Loricins.

Thanks to a base CO that was a complete fucktard.
Closed the MX track, closed the archery range, closed the shotgun range, closed the marina.
The auto hobby shop is now only open two days a week and you can't do projects there.
The paint booth has been closed for a while too.

"... At NAS Whidbey Island, the EA-18G Growler is in the process of replacing the older EA- 6B Prowler. At 500 feet from the aircraft on departure, the EA-18G is up to 115 dB SEL whereas the Prowler is 130-133 dB SEL, which means the Prowler would be perceived as more than twice as loud. On approach, however, the EA-18G is up to 3 dB louder than the Prowler...."

It's called the outlier field. It's about 20 miles or so south of NAS Whidbey, which is in Oak Harbor. I'm pretty sure it's only used as a touch and go strip. Oak Harbor is very Navy friendly, as are a lot of Whidbey Island long time residents. I go there once or twice a week for my work route, and most people call the jet noise " the sound of freedom". However, being in fairly close geographic proximity to Seattle, Whidbey Island has been inundated by lots of nature type fruits and nuts.
Link Posted: 4/28/2015 10:35:08 PM EDT
I've always thought the EA-6Bs' were way louder than Hornets were.

The Navy needs need to arrange a flyby of F14s to demonstrate the error in that assessment. I was at an airshow once in Shitcago and all 6 blue angels few by between buildings. OK, fine, cool. One F14 flies through nice and slow, and car alarms were the only thing you could hear after it passed. Well, you could hear at least one or two of those anyways, it WAS Shitcago after all, but this was more than one car alarm... it was more like all of them.
