All the horses will more than likely end up slaughtered

The top mayoral candidates, Democrat Bill de Blasio and Republican Joe Lhota, support a bill before the City Council to ban the horse-drawn rides, a move that would throw hundreds of drivers, and more than 200 horses, out of work.

Some experts, however, warn that retiring the horses would add to a "homeless horse" crisis in the U.S., which already sends 90,000 to 100,000 unwanted horses to slaughter in Canada and Mexico each year.

Most of the horses will end up dead as a result. It would cost $48,000 a year month to keep all of them fed and cared for, which we know animal rights groups aren't known to do (PETA, king of euthanizing)

$48,000 to stable them for a year?

Bullshit.

Bloomberg's kid rides competitively. I suspect he's familiar with the treatment of the horses in NYC and his answer will be the same one they've got for the last thirty years - "Shut up, you assholes."

$200 per month per horse seems pretty cheap...

can't slaughter horses in the US - it's why there are so many abused horses around

it costs a ton to euthanize and horse and have it rendered

$200 per horse per month would be a cheap"out in the country" boarding cost that would not include any vet or farrier.
It would surely cost considerably more in NY.
