I have a level II "bulletproof" vest that I used to use when I worked security, however, when I get out of school in December, I'll be working in Law Enforcement and will be provided with a vest, so my question is, should I keep the vest for SHTF situations, or get rid of it?

How old is it?  If its old get rid of it.  The fibers will break down and wont do shit.

Level II will stop some pistol rounds and not much more.  You could wear it under and another vest for layered protection but it gets bulky.  The dudes that shot it out in Hollywood had multiple layers of vests on and it worked well.

My stepdad is a LEO, and carries several extra vests in his car. Never know when one might come in handy.

Might as well keep it. You wouldn't get much from selling it.

Age alone isn't the primary factor - heat, and humidity are VIP
