I thought I would show you the  letter I have sent to my Rep. and two Senators.  It is simple direct and to the point.

Dear Congressman / senator <----Insert appropriate title/name:

I do not want to waste your time, but am writing to make you aware about me feelings on pending legislation that is of great concern to me.  I will not bore you with details as I am sure you have been deluged with letters both for and against any form of ban on so called assault weapons.  I simply wanted to remind you that gun owners flocked to Perot after the 1989 import ban, ousted disagreeable members of congress after the 1994 ban, Cost Al Gore the presidency, and will be out in force in the next election cycle.  These are however things you know.  I however wanted you to be aware that this is the only issue on which I will base my vote.  I simply put will not vote for any politician who votes for renewal of the current assault weapons ban, or imposition of a new more restrictive ban.
