Sorry if this has been posted, but I couldn't see it anywhere.
Dear fellow gun owner:
This is an extremely painful email to send.
Ed Thompson is a principled and decent man, a man with gumption, ideas, and
a firm committment to gun rights. Many of the people on our email alert list
have supported him, and for good reason.
However, it is plainly evident at this point that he cannot win. With less
than three weeks to go before the election, it would take Divine
Intervention for him to pick up the additional thirty or so points needed to
overtake Doyle or McCallum.
Jim Doyle is now at around 40% in most polls, leading McCallum by roughly 7
to 9 points. That difference is about the same percentage that Ed Thompson
is getting. Thompson's support is giving Doyle votes.
Doyle would be the most anti-gun governor this state has ever had. You can
view his frightening record at http://www.wigopac.com . The proposals that
Doyle has put forth over the last twelve years make Bill Clinton look like
Charlton Heston. Doyle would be a living hell for gunowners in Wisconsin.
Scott McCallum and Margaret Farrow have been every bit as supportive of gun
rights as Ed Thompson, and they offer a firm promise to advance pro-gun
legislation, including concealed carry.
On the morning of November 6th, gun owners could awaken to find their worst
nightmares have come true. Remember that it was Ross Perot in 1992 who
handed us Bill Clinton.
The volunteers of the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Association have stayed out
of the governors race, because many wanted Thompson to win. Now, however,
all of them have reached the same conclusion about this race.
When you step into the voting booth on November 5th, look carefully at your
ballot. If you're about to cast your vote for Ed Thompson, look over at the
checkbox for Jim Doyle. Will your conscience allow you to feel good about
voting for Thompson, when you knew that your vote really elected Doyle?
Please think about that before you go to the polls.
Yours in Freedom,
The Wisconsin Concealed Carry Association
