I'm not going to claim credit for this, as someone else, whose screen name I disremember, suggested this in another thread.
But let's try it. From now on, always refer to them as Homeland Defense Weapons, or HDWs.
Anytime from September 13th on you hear someone say "Assault Weapon", remind them that the AWB has expired, and they are now known as HDWs. When you see it on the news, write a short, polite email informing them of the fact. See it in the paper? Short letter to the editor. Don't debate the law or the 2A, just correct the term.
Let's see if we can get the term to go mainstream.
