They are my favorite band of all time.
Who else thinks they are???? |
They are up there.
I saw them in NY City in ~1970 at the old New York World's Fair site in Flushing Meadow. They were doing their first album. I saw them doing their second album, too, not sure where (lol). I saw them doing their third album at Madison Square Garden in the winter of 1971. I recently bought all their early albums again on CD. I really like the Lord Of The Rings stuff they did. I'm a big fan of Tolkien, too. I recently sent a copy of the lyrics from "Thank You" to my wife via email. It was like a love letter to her. She gave me a BIG kiss when she got home. “Thank You” If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me. Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more. Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by. My love is strong, with you there is no wrong, together we shall go until we die. My, my, my. An inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look... see. And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles, Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one. Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad. If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me. |

One of my top five. "Battle of Evermore" is my favorite song.
Im going to let that slide, since you're a teenager (and havent heard it 10,000,000 times) |
I was gonna say so did I until i heard it for like the 100th time. |

Loved 'em back in the day.

Is IT hair and patchouli? What do I win? |

Ok...bring it ON... I HATE them...over rated, plodding...Plant couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, he sounds like a 15yr old girl with a cattle prod up her ass...Page is THE most over rated guitar player in the history of rock music, Bonham has one style of drumming: LOUD. But the bass player is not to bad lol.
( I really don't *hate* them, but I do think they are WAY over rated, and don't hold a candle to Sabbath and Ozzy!) |
Sabbath? One could attempt to argue that, I suppose. But solo Ozzy? You're high. Led Zepplin is one of the best ever. Period. (Pre-emptive Strike: anyone who think Rush is better than Led Zepplin is retarded.) |
led zeppelin are the progenitors of modern rock... their music has spawned and inspired some great bands...
Well, I am sure my Nomex suit will earn its keep today, but U2 is my favorite band of all time. Yes, I like LZ, I like PF, I like The Who, but U2 has alot of the music I like and has historical interest as well. Any current band that can say it played music in the 70s is worth a second look. Longevity happens for a reason.
Sure, I hate some of the politics behind U2, but I overlook that. |
"With or Without You" is the gayest song, ever.
I don't consider U2 a rock band, they're more 'pop'. |
I can see why you think that but still disagree with you. They've got some hard-edged songs that kick tail. |
Nah... I thought the Hootie & the Blowfish remake was better than the Led Zep original. (J/K - like others have said above: great band, great music, just not my very favorite.) |
U2????????? Now you've done it...I've never liked them, and when I heard Bono's pathetic rant that the Irish shouldn't care about their own land, that was enough for me....we need to send the little bleeder to South Armaugh for a little "re-education. And Bono has managed to supplant Sting as the Most Pompous Rock Star Ever...no mean feat, given how seriously old Gordon takes himself. Musically, they're all pretty challenged, and have some of the poxiest lyrics on record. (boy, you guys sure have made me CRANKY this morning hehehe). |
The songs of their's I like best are the more pop tunes.
For a "hard edged" band that's been playing sice the 70's, I'd recommend: Motorhead |
hey...read the sign! (music store clerk points to sign just as Wayne Campbell begins to play the banned song). |
I think he meant Sabbath with Ozzy. More specifically, I think Sabbath's first six albums are incredible and I tend to listen to them more than I do Zep these days. Zep is still top three for me, depending on my mood. I'd probably say Sabbath followed by Zep as a close second and Bon Scott AC/DC as a close third. |
I could agree with that.
I think that Sabbath is having more of an effect on current ronknroll than Led Zepplin. |
Led Zep is my all time fave, but I agree with Goblin, U2 has some really good stuff, particularly the early stuff. I have recently been listening to their old stuff, and realized how much I liked it al over again. |
Have to agree with you on that one. Zep is definitely in my top 10, but Sabbath is my #1. |
The two solo Ozzy albums with Randy Rhoads have more good songs on them than any 10 Zep albums...there, I said it! |
You are mistaken. Hell, "Presence" has better songs than any Solo Ozzy. |
Presence: Achilles last stand For your life Royal Orleans Nobody's fault but mine Candy store rock Hots on for nowhere Tea for one Blizzard of Ozz: I Don't Know Crazy Train Goodbye to Romance Dee Suicide Solution Mr. Crowley No Bone Movies Revelation The defense rests, your honor. Case Dismissed!! |
Redneck. (Truth be told, I saw them on their last tour. ) |
How in THE hell can any other band compare to the Greatest?
Communication Breakdown Immigrant Song Blackdog Ocean What is and What Should Never Be Kashmir 1-4, Houses of the Holy, and Physical Graffiti. OK, who can tell me what this line means from Dancing Days: "...I saw a lion he was standing alone with a tadpole in a jar." |
"Handguns are made for killin', They ain't no good for nothin' else.........." You call THAT drivel 'great'? Sheesh. You need some Led for the head. |
If you're not convinced that Led Zep is the greatest band ever, then just look at articles from music industry magazines over the past 30 years. You will see in short order, that Zep has had more influence on the entire music industry than any other musical entity. That is the true test of greatness.
Here is my ranking of stuff I listen to. Weird mix, I know. It's really hard to rank them 1 to 10.
Led Zep The Doors Sex Pistols Elvis Costello Lynyrd Skynyrd Jimi Hendrix The Who Allman Bros The Police The English Beat |
Ditto. Zep is in the top three in my book. I saw them in 1975 in St. Louis. Remember it very well to this day. |
Been a long time since I rock-n-roll................................
Sgatr15 |
Exactly. Real bands kick ass, U2 kicks "tail" |
I saw them twice I think and they're still ONE of the greats.
