Mrs. WICOUNSEL made one of my favorites for Father's Day. And she does it better than they do on Mont Saint-Michel. Had to share/brag.

Mixed greens or Zespri Sungold Kiwi.

The Nuremberger sauasages and cappuccino were nice too, but the omelette is a trick to make. Have to time it just right

Eggs are over cooked, and who eats salad with breakfast?
Link Posted: 6/18/2017 2:30:39 PM EST
I'd eat that!
So most of the whites go down the disposal?

Yeah, there's always a bunch of the whipped whites that don't get used. If you have a dog, fun for them.

Not overcooked at all. She has to count how long they cook by the seconds. She nailed it.

And apparently plebs don't eat salad for breakfast.

Fried egg (unfortunately not runny enough), Cabernet beef pot roast, arugula, crème fraîche, Stilton and balsamic vinegar on toast. Off camera, banana cream yogurt, kiwi, strawberry and banana.

All of it looks good OP. Suddenly the yogurt and granola bar I had for breakfast seem woefully inadequate, I'm hungry again now.

Thanks. More often than not it's just cereal, but we had some leftovers to throw together this morning.

Overpriced & overhyped, La mere Poulard omelette is just a cheap, quickly-made omelette and you can eat wayyyyy better by going outside of the Mont Saint-Michel.

While I agree it is overpriced on Mont Saint-Michel and there is better food in the area, it is not quickly made and there is an art to doing it correctly.

Further, everyone is entitled to their own opinion on food, except people from, or people that have lived for an extended period in Belgium, where their culinary contribution to the world peaked with waffles.

Touché. That I am not. Just a trophy husband. Getting bored though. Might start working again soon.

For what it's worth, I do eat grits for breakfast when down south.

Medium rare grass fed beef ribeye steak, stilton, grilled fresh pineapple, sliced grapes, with a crème fraîche (of course) and balsamic vinegar sauce, all on a bed of fresh romaine, arugula and pea shoots. garlic bread crostini on the side. Love it when she cooks.

Tonight, a very bloody "medium" rare filet mignon, sauteed fresh mushrooms and onions on the side and Georgia peaches off camera.

Pan fried bone in pork chop (extra thick), seasoned asparagus, and a salad of pea shoots, pickled beets, shredded mixed cheese, grapes and balsamic vinegar. I think she likes me.

I wish I could find decent pork chops around here. All they want to sell you is that 'center cut' bullshit or paper thin bone-ins.
Link Posted: 6/28/2017 10:42:28 PM EST
It all looks good as in every single picture of food you posted.

One exception, the mushrooms with the filet. While I'm sure they were delicious, visually appealing they were not.

Lucky fella.

Could you save the extra whites for use in making mousse?

Asparagus is over cooked. Chop looks awesome. Good crust on it.
Link Posted: 6/29/2017 8:15:50 AM EST
Thanks guys.

I agree a little lighter color on the farmer market mushrooms would have been more visually appealing, but the flavor was there. Hard to go wrong sauteing anything in Wisconsin butter.

Filet and chops are just from Trader Joe's. Damn good though. Have to go to an "old world" meat market to get better around here, but Trader Joe's is two blocks away.

Asparagus a bit limp. Usually she seasons and broils them giving the outside a little more crunch. This time she steamed them.

I like the thought on saving the egg whites for mousse. Will have to suggest this next time.

Eating out. Hawaiian. Ono Kine Grindz

Had enough people we could order a bunch and sample from each. Awesome food. Only two tables in restaurant. Most of their business is carry out, as evidenced by their serving dishes.

Egg sunnyside up, over Deppler's Baby Swiss cheese, arugala and buttered everything toast. Accompanying it is a smoked apple chardonnay chicken sausage with sweet mustard from the Wurstkuchl of Regensburg. Off camera, a crappy banana.

I do. Fried egg over arugula or spinach with lemon and olive oil is outstanding.

Add avocado, bacon, salmon, etc.

awesome food but rules are clearly being broken.

A little nonconformity is healthy.

Rules were meant to pushed to the limits and if necessary, broken. Otherwise society and culture will not advance.
Link Posted: 7/9/2017 8:28:23 AM EST
The only thing advancing in this thread is OP's waistline.

Come on with the pics
