Would you believe there is a soldier who was injured from an arrow in Iraq?  Just on the Laura Ingraham show.  Seems like some "insurgents" are running low on ammo so they are resorting to using crossbows.  Still an OUCH!

Crossbows use bolts not arrows.  I wonder if body armor stops them?

Shok

If it's a proper crossbow bolt, soft armor will NOT stop it or slow it down appreciably. If it hits the plate, then it probably won't do much more than surprise whoever was on the receiving end shortly before Haji gets his 72 virgins.

I don't think it would with out the plate. Arrows have more of a 'cut' and bullets have more of a 'push it's way through everything' I don't know how effective the armor used in the sandbox would stand up to the cutting blade on the tip.

BTW bolt is just a snobby way to say arrow (I know they are different enough, but yet are very similar)

From first hand experience I can tell you that soft armor will not stop a bolt from a crossbow, nor an arrow from a compound bow. The rifle plates will.

This would be a good choice for a terrorist. They are relatively quiet, and can defeat soft armor. Not to mention the fact that the wounds would be agonizing.

Someone photoshop an AR telestock on a crossbow
