Yesterday was lilGH's 3rd birthday. We had a great time with the party and he got way to many noise makers for my sensitive ears. (good thing we have ear muffs for shooting)
My day started out with taking my youngest daughter to the BMV to take her learners permit test. She passed it, only missing 1 question. yeah for her, boo for me. I can't believe my baby girl is old enough to drive. And I can't believe I let her drive yesterday!
After the BMV it was eye doc appt time. She went first and her eyes are much worse then last year. (happens every year) I felt sorry for her. I went next. My near vision remains the same.
However she confirmed what I knew was coming. My bi-focals will be in sometime this week!
Why is it that I still feel pretty young for the most part, but my body seems to be failing me every turn I take and my kids continue to keep getting older? Two of them are nearly adults now. 16 didn't bother me to much until I took her in for that test, then bam it hit, my little girl is growing up!! Of course I am crying now at 16 and driving, wait until May when the oldest is graduating high school.
Mrs. GH hang in there hun. You can't be old cuz you're younger than me!
Here's something to hopefully cheer you up!
--- Reporters interviewing a 104-year-old woman: "And what do you think is the best thing about being 104?" the reporter asked. She simply replied, "No peer pressure."

--- Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked, "How old was your husband?" "98," she replied. "Two years older than me." "So you're 96," the undertaker commented. She responded, "Hardly worth going home, is it?"
--- I've sure gotten old! I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees. Fought prostate cancer and diabetes. I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends. But, thank God, I still have my driver's license
--- An elderly woman decided to prepare her will and told her preacher she had two final requests. First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Wal-Mart "Wal-Mart?" the preacher exclaimed. "Why Wal-Mart?" "Then I'll be sure my daughters visit me twice a week ."

---Don't think of it as getting hot flashes. Think of it as your inner child playing with matches.

- --THE SENILITY PRAYER : Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.
Now, I think you're supposed to send this to 5 or 6, maybe 10. Oh heck, send it to a bunch of your friends if you can remember who they are!
You're only as old as you make up your mind to be. Don't let it get to ya!
Well, I'll see if I still feels 18 after I snowboard today.
My youngest is 28 this year. Her older sister will be 33.
And yea, every room, car and motorcycle has a pretty good selection of reading glasses.
Aw, MrsGH. You're only as old as you feel.
Wait until the grandbabies come, it really makes you feel "young" to have someone behind you yelling Grandma, Grandma. From May thru July all my kids have birthdays then mine in August, by the time summer is over I feel really old. Just remember, we are just getting better with time
I know the feeling. My youngest is now a teenager, my son graduates high school in June, the middle daughter will be 20 in May and the oldest has made me a grandmother x 3. But you really are as young as you feel. Plus you have a 3 year old to keep you young .
Oh yeah, I got the bifocals, well, progressive lens, a couple of years ago. And that was after putting it off for over a year. Btw, if you wear glasses already, bifocals require a big adjustment.
But you know what? I am proud and thankful for every day of my 44 years!
patty those are cute! thanks
ogre, I already wear glasses, but technically I wear contacts everyday all day long. I only wear "glasses" on bad days and first thing in the morning and at night. I went with new glasses with lined bifocals (she said I would adjust easier with the lines), and I went to the drug store and picked out a pair of reading glasses for during the day when I have my contacts in. I know the rules, don't look down when going up and down stairs, I might fall! I don't have to "point my nose" in the direction I need my bi-focals since I went with lines, there is no doubt about where I will need to look with those. She said a few other things, they've flown out of my head at this time since it has been such a loooong weekend. She suggested monovision, and I wasn't real keen on that AT ALL! I may be a little vain, but reading glasses when I have my contacts in aren't that bad a deal really.
And you're right, Liam really helps me feel young, I don't have a choice, he's a handful on slow days!
