I walked into my local gun shop today, just wasting time and telling lies, when all of a sudden I spotted it. The Hi Point C9 was laying there all alone in the corner where all the cheap guns usually lay.  It was like a baby that's so ugly that it's cute.  I asked the owner, which happens to be my friend, how much she would take for it.  A few curse words followed and then she asked had I lost my damn mind.  "What the hell do you want that for?", she said with almost the look of someone who was frightened.   To be honest, I don't know why I'm thinking about going back and buying it.  Could be because of all the hate that follows it.  Damn, is it because it's black?  #hipointlivesmatter too you know.  Now I'm asking you guys, what the hell is wrong with me.  Why has this Hi Point gotten into my head like a good piece of ass?  It's all I can think about.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just go to Home Depot or Lowe's and buy a hammer?

Heavy, yes. Ugly, yes. But it goes bang every time I ask it to. (After I tweaked the feed lips on the mags). I used it for a truck gun when I was in the repo business. Will probably sell it once I get the 1911 where I want it.

And yes, if I run out of ammo, it makes a dandy hammer!

Almost bought one for $150 @ Ft Hood last week, but talked myself out of it.  Wish someone was still making the 1911 mag catch conversion.

Son in Law has a carbine. It runs 100%. His optic cost more than the rifle.

If we go shooting you can depend on it running flawlessly. The first 100 yards are yours with the damn thing.

Ugly as homemade sin

Difficult to strip and clean. (The company actually asks you to send it to them to strip and clean.)

Has a spring loaded buttplate to absorb "recoil".

If something is stupid but it works it isn't really stupid.

Just a pic I found on the Internet.

I bought the carbine just for the hell of it. That little piece of crap has yet to malfunction and has decent groups! Too bad its just ugly as sin. I can't bear to bring it out in public. I do keep it in my car tho so if I have a free range with no one there ill take it out, as soon as someone arrives I quickly stow it away

They're huge, heavy, blowback bricks, but they generally work, and if it doesn't, you can send it to Hi Point and they will make it work.

That's no excuse.  If you can afford benchrest, give up a nice night out w/ the wife & buy her a pistol for Mother's Day.  She'll look even prettier w/ an ugly pistol.

You can't buy a used short recoil pistol for what this sells for new, and b/c it's got a fixed bbl, by all reports, they're reasonably accurate despite the factory trigger.  Only downside is proprietary single-stack mags, and you can cut the mag release slot in good 1911 mags for the .45", or machine your own 1911 mag compatible mag release now that they're no longer made.

I'd have one in every car, truck, camper, tractor and motorcycle I own.

Now that they can source OEM mags from Magpul, I fully expect several of the smaller gun companies to come out with Glock mag well pistols.  It's worked for the AR-15 manufacturers, no reason the pistol manufacturers can't do the same thing.

I've read somewhere that Hi Point C9's are problematic with reloads, is this true?

Might not want to run aluminum case in it.

OP, I bought one of their 9 mm carbines some years ago.

It is ugly as a sack full of assholes BUT......it never failed to function correctly.

And it is reasonably accurate.

I refer to the ugly bitch as my "Planet of the Apes" gun.

If you saw the original movie and have seen their 9 mm carbine, you understand why I call it that.

Now it IS a pain-in-the-ass to disassemble and clean properly though - not something I would want to do every day.

The carbine is actually a good gun.
I would snatch it up.

If I can ever get a .45 pistol for $150 OTD, I'm getting it.
