Bushmaster "Patrolman's Carbine"
 This is a picture of when I first bought it. I will take a picture of it at work tonight. ETA: Pic in the PD Car (as carried at the moment) (added a Vortex... has the ASP/TAG one-point sling, buttstock extra mag pouch, and new grip - to store small items in)  I am currently trying to figure out a flashlight "rig" for mine. Deployed my rifle first time two days ago on a possible armed subject and realized flashlight MUCH needed. Have pretty much decided on the Pentagon X3-HA, just not sure of the mounting system. Probably wind up getting a MI #17 2-piece forearm rail. I have an Aimpoint, but have not trained with it yet, and need to buy a B.U.I.S. for it. Other than flashlight, B.U.I.S. - I think I would be gtg. Well, besides some type of bandoleer or such to house several mags to sling over my shoulder to carry with me (The call I had the other night was a mile off the road and away from the PD car - I had 20-rounder in the rifle, and 20-rounder attached to stock). I am really interested in seeing LEO rifle set-ups!  Stay Safe! |

This is the carbine I plan to carry if I get to go through a patrol carbine class.
 Bushmaster lower with a Vltor stock, RRA 15" upper with a permanently attached A2 FH. Larue backup site, RAS II with a ML2 on a A.R.M. 22 mount. ___________________  |

Actually, the idea of rifles is somewhat new in our Department. Good thing is that when our other Chief took off, he was replaced by one that came from a big agency and has implemented several benefitting items/upgrades. IMHO tho, along with purchasing rifles for the Department, he also allows you to buy your own (or carry your own if you already have one). Opens up the options. It is a tool, that may never be used... but I would like for it to be there in the event that it ever needs to be.

Our PD issues a Colt AR15A3 to every officer. I put on a different grip, sight, and light. (Eotech and Surefire) - reasons are obvious. I like the EO better'n the Aimpoint. BH55gr sp issed duty ammo. Have been in 1 shooting w/this combo - worked just fine.
 I also have qualled on the sniper course with this Rem 700. She's a shooter.  Our PD is great about providing officers w/ needed equipment. |

 Our plain jane Colt. Tryin to talk "The Man" into trading for Bushy or RRA. He almost canned the whole Patrol Rifle program...the only reason he didn't is because it would have cost to much to buy shottys. David |

My chief (
 ) wouldn't allow us to carry patrol rifles for a long time. With more SHTF calls occurring in the last few years, he's finally getting into the 21st Centuty. The department bought one Colt M4 and issued it to the Captain. He doesn't work the road or nights.  We have to supple our own patrol carbine and take the training on our off time. At least he supplies the ammo for the class. He bought XM855 and the instructors don't allow it on the range. The class supplies XM193 and the department pays for it. Now I have to get into a class, on my off time. _________________ |

  I generally use an SLR15 Commander. Occasionally you might find me with a different configuration, MP5 or Shotgun, depending on the specific mission. I am a firm believer in keeping the weapons systems practical and simple. I prefer A1 uppers with same plane sight apertures, fixed stocks, & a full length sight radius as it aids in accuracy easier and protects the barrel (after all why would anyone put snubnosed sights on a 6" revolver?). It sure is good to see working rifles. I am tired of all the "look how pretty my rifle is" pictures. Mine is so scratched up and worn from being taken in and out of a patrol car on a daily basis. My rifle knows where home is, in the mount next to my right shoulder, ready when I need it. Not in a box in the closet.

It is surely nice to see a MAD backup sight mounted. I use the same exact set-up as you with the only difference is the Stock. Mine is the Colt M4 stock. It is also a pleasure to see a rifle that is working in the field with a few bumps and scratch. Tell tale signs of a working rifle. |
