We need a "World Of The AR-15" page which documents every known variant of the M-16 / AR-15 rifle.

World Of HK

It would be an incredibly valuable referrence and in line with the original vision of this forum.

You kidding right?  I mean in the AR Discussion area there is an ongoing thread just about PRE-M4 carbines that were developed for and/or adopted by the Military. (www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=267251)

Then we have The Black Rifle and The Black Rifle II and they don't cover every Colt variation - let alone the variations from other manufacturers (especially when you get into other calibers).

He's been a Mod on at least one site.  I don't think he'd get a huge warm fuzzy over it.

Not a bad idea. It probably wouldn't be quite as interesting as the World of HK, since HK has a myriad of pistols, "assault rifles," submachine guns, precision rifles, and shotguns, while the AR-15 has....well, a bunch of rifles (with the odd La France M16K or Olympic Arms AR "handgun", etc.). Still it's worth investigatin'.

I dunno...I have spent hours going over old issues of SAR devoted to minor M-16 variants.

Topics are hardly referrenceable and at risk to being lost to the archives.

Take a look at the HKPro page. It is really nice.

Thats a pretty good idea.

What really sets arfcom apart from the others is the comedy in the GD and the local and national equipment exchange.

You can spend a few minutes on HKpro.com , an hour at the Sigforum , but you can spend ALL DAY at ar15.com

That would be a huge task. I think it's a great idea but who's going to do it? How would you set it up? Brands? Years? Development? Calibers? Accessories?

I've seen a few ideas like that and while most of them are informative, I have yet to see one that covers it all impressively, with out being a major publication. If one was to do it, they would have to put everything they could into it, or else it's just another average AR15/M16 write up.

ETA: Some names that I think would be an asset to it would be Ekie, scottryan, forest, and maybe even coldblue could add some info. I'm sure there's more as well.

I nominate Troy. It seems this was the original vision for this website. I'm just surpised it hasn't been done already.
