Adolf Hitler, Saddam Hussein and Pol Pot recreated in knitting
By Chris Irvine
Last Updated: 9:36AM BST 21/07/2008

A designer has caused outrage with a set of knitting instructions which allow you to create woolly models of Adolf Hitler and some of the world's other most famous dictators.

Rachael Matthews, credited for starting a new celebrity knitting craze, calls the doll of the Nazi leader Knitler.

Her new book has designs for a number of dictators, including Saddam Hussein, Cambodia's Pol Pot, and Ugandan Idi Amin, who was portrayed by Forest Whitaker in The Last King of Scotland.

A spokesman for the Jewish Network said: "You would hope people would have more sense than to take a cuddly Hitler into work."

Ms Matthews is the brains behind Cast Off, a London knitting circle that has grown famous over the past few years.

The group have knitted together on the Circle Line, at folk clubs in the East End, and even at a specially organised evening called Craft Rocks at the V&A museum.

They once were ejected from the Savoy for their knitting exploits.

In 2001 she wrote to the Queen requesting suggestions for public knitting venues,

You can buy a number of knitted items ranging from shoelaces to a cigarette, lipstick, or even a grenade from her website www.castoff.info

Why the fuck would the author add the bit about Forest Whitaker?

Probably because most average people dont know for fuck who Idi Amin was...

Or many other historical figures, douchebags, heroes or whatever.

The last couple generations are utterly, disgustingly and pathetically clueless about the world around them, beyond fuckin American idol, et al...
