Clarification: Confiscated weapons will not be sold to the general public by the King County Sheriff's Office but will be offered only to licensed gun dealers through bids. Under a motion passed Monday by the Metropolitan King County Council, rifles and shotguns will be sold to buy gun lockboxes for sheriff's deputies to keep their weapons safe at home. The weapons will be sold as a lot, not individually, to dealers who can supply the lockboxes. A previous version of this story may have implied that the guns would be auctioned to the public.
