Wife is beginning to get a little concerned about the area she works in and is considering self-defense options.  Guns are a no go because she doesn't have the experience, temperament, and the company does not allow it.  However, I think it would be worth carrying a non-lethal device.  Considered an expandable baton, but that still requires a fairly close encounter.  Don't want traditional pepper spray because of all the variables that could go wrong (wind, weather, distance.)  Tasers are single shot and hope they aren't wearing a thick jacket.  So I'm looking at the Kimber Pepper Blaster. Watched several YoutTube reviews, and I could watch people get shot in the face with this thing all day.  You can tell who was a serious reviewer, and who took a drunken dare.

Anyway, has anyone owned or used one of these, or has any first or second hand knowledge of anyone who actually defended themselves with one?  Seems like the high-speed stream helps offset wind-effect, and the fact that it's a gel seems like it would stick instead of fogging back in her face.  And it's a double-shot.   Thoughts or alternatives?

Why not get her a can of OC spray?    The pepperblaster is a neat idea if you only need two shots.

a metric fuck ton of pain and damage can be inflicted in 3-4 seconds that takes to kick in.
Besides if she misses then what?
2 shots with amped up nerves, small deliver area = a whoops than can get her hurt or worse case dead.

Fog and stream oc, she better get a taste of it and realize she can still move and run, and so can the scumbag.

Buy as a stopgap or a defensive tool she can carry pretty much anywhere.

It's not perfect, but is a good "tool to have in the toolbox" as we like to say in GD. (we also like to accuse everyone of being "Betas" so take this post with a grain of salt )

It looks pretty damn useless for personal defense after looking at a few videos.

Same goes for any defensive weapon...

Buy a 2 oz can of Fox 5.3 in stream pattern instead. Actually get two and let her practice with one.

with a spray, you can keep spraying them.
This is a two trick pony.
I would prefer a taser if allowed.    The civilian versions shock for 30 seconds IIRC.

Does her work happen to have any cans of wasp spray laying around?

Not likely. The Fox stuff looks pretty nice though. Multiple shots, small size, still a direct stream. I will probably try that out first. Keep the ideas coming!
