The place I work is very open discussion on most things..........Hell my infidel shirt gets regular wear in the office.  My boss knows I collect ak's and he owns a Norinco SKS and a 357 Magnum. One of the other guys I work with has a decent collection but they've really stuck to giving me crap about collecting AK's mostly terrorist jokes......So I thought I'd ask the community. If I started collecting Ar's would that be any better?  |

I was the first guy in my county to carry an AR on duty. A couple of other cops called me Rambo. I didn't go buy a Mini-14 to make them happy.

Invite them over to shoot your AKs, they will go from calling you a "terrorist" to asking you were to buy a good AK

I have had dozens and have taken a lot of coworkers out for a "wisen up" in the last two decades of AK ownership. All I get now is the "if the SHTF I am coming to your house" sillyness.

Well, I am just the OPPOSITE of you. Although I am U.S. military retired and, yes, a Vietnam-era vet, I DO NOT discuss anything with the people I work with. As a prof. in a small, ultra-liberal univerisity, telling people how many weapons I own would NOT go over very well. I was only hired here because I have a very good technical background and am willing to work for a low, liberal arts salary. I only did that because it is my hometown and I had a mother with Alzheimer's and diabetes to take care of. All MY coworkers want to talk about is how wonderful Barry Soetoro is and how great socialism will be when Barry gets it all implemented. I don't know what you do but I would be tempted to trade you jobs/coworkers. |

Your BIG mistake is talking to everyone about all your guns. You can talk about guns to about everyone without telling them what you own. That information is none of their business. Close friends should maybe know, that's about it. If they see one on range outing, fine. They don't need to know about the entire contents of your safe. In short, it's not what kind of guns you have, it's that you need to learn to keep to yourself what you have and you won't have to worry about it. |

All guns are inherrently more cool than anything not a gun. That 60", $2500 TV the one guy in the office always brags about during football season? Yeah, it's cool, sure. But it's not as cool as even a $50 Lorcin. Why? Because the TV can't shoot anything, that's why. Roger that. with .mil experience, I was used to AR's and thought AK's were for commies too. Bought my first one and now regret having spent as much on AR's as I had. Think of all the cool mods and all the 7.62x39 I could have bought for the price of ONE nice AR.

Don't tell your co-workers about your vast collection of firearms.
No need to lie about "guns", but full disclosure of what you've got in any detail is not wise in my opinion for a modern work environment where unemployment is where its at and its really damn hard to find a decent paying job. |

The older I get, the less I talk about my guns with other people, or even admit I have any. Not that I am ashamed, its just more of a "none of your fucking business" type of attitude. When SHTF, I don't want everyone in the neighborhood knowing ole Rosenrot is stacked full of supplies. |
