A story of what happened at work yesterday.

About 15 minutes after lunch break starts one of my co-worker’s wife calls to say that she had a phone call from the police who said that her husband had a traffic accident on his bike and is now in the hospital undergoing surgery.
Her husband is quite seriously injured and could die.

The boss decides to send somebody also, and is in the middle of choosing whom to send, when the person who is supposed to be on his deathbed walks in and asks what is going on?
Everybody goes , then I explained about the phone call and such.
He phones his wife, she is greatly relieved to find out that he is OK.
Suspecting some kind of scam, she looks up the number that was used by the supposedly police and it does match the one of an actual police station.
She decides to go to the hospital to find out what is going on.

After arriving at the hospital, she is met by the police and they take her to a man who she has never seen before.
It turns out that somebody stole her husband’s bike and helmet, and then soon after crashed into a tree.
The husband has his name and contact info written on the back of his helmet so lacking anything else, the police used that for ID and contacted who they thought to be his wife.

The road was straight and there was no ice or anything to cause a crash.
The people who saw it happening said that he suddenly swerved into the tree for no apparent reason.
One shouldn't mess with Karma

Update!

The thief lived, his injuries weren't as extensive as first thought.
He had no driving license or insurance so the police are hitting him for everything that they can.
The owner of the bike got insurance and the insurance company is considering suing the thief.

Justice all around

God has a great sense of humor. The perp was just riding along, minding his loot, and "BAM!"
