Went to a drum clinic put on by the Kansas City Explorers to celebrate their 25th Anniversary in business.  Danny Carey of Tool, the tabla master Aloke Dutta, and percussion genius Terry Bozzio were all in attendance and put on quite a show.  Here are some pictures...I'm in the process of uploading my videos to youtube.

There was probably 1000 people in attendance in the auditorium of a local high school.  I was probably 15 rows back.  It was an awesome show.  As a bonus, I got my Evans drum head signed by all three at the end of the show.

Went and got a "shadow box" frame today so I could frame the autographed drum and and hang it on my wall.  I'll put it next to my Merkin Vineyards autographed wine bottle by Maynard.

I went to a Morello clinic "back in the day."  Certainly not the flash and fireworks of today's clinics (I've been to a Bozzio clinic) –– just Joe, 4 drums, and 3 cymbals –– but the guy was from another planet for chops.

Bozzio is all about chops, and certainly about show, with the thousand drums and cymbals, but I never cared much for the music –– too much like "math music."  Carey is ridiculously good.

Must be something about drums and guns –– I guess I just like loud, shiny things.

I was thinking,
"Cool, a muzzleloader thread!"
