I didn't think we were supposed to have a class system in America. Are the rich a protected class? the poor? the middle class? How does one become a protected class? Is it like a protected species? Is a protected class one that is endangered? liable to go out of existence so protections are put into effect to protect it? I mean, is the wealthy class liable to die off? Are there fewer poor people today than yesterday, a year ago, 7years ago, a decade? Is the middle class shrinking? if it is why isn't it getting protection from what ever endangers it? If it is disappearing, threatened with extinction,  maybe it needs to be protected.

There are three classes in America.

At the bottom is pretty much everyone from hobos to most "rich"  business owners and celebrities.

In the middle are the politicians. They may not always have as much money as some in the bottom class, but they always have more power and freedom.

At the top are the handful of super-rich individuals and multinational corporations who actually benefit from this whole fucked up mess.  They own the political class and fleece the lower class.

Straight vs gay, black vs white, even Republican vs Democrat is all theatre to keep you hating your neighbors and not your masters.

If you are a white, employed and Christian, you're not a protected class.

Most everybody else is.

Heck, even breast feeding moms are a protected class and must be given a room and time to express milk during work hours.
I questioned my supervisor about this stating I was about to begin fertility testing and possible in-vitro procedures.
Didn't get the quiet room and opportunity to to express myself though....

If you're not shy, then why not just do it at your desk? I mean after all it should be your right to procreate, besides what has he got against free expression? No one should be able to complain about it. Hell, you should demand that your employer supply some sort of stimulating material for you to start it all off.

good explanation but in my case, and I dare to say it's also not the case with quite a few others.

Class in this context had nothing to do with economic strata - The principle protected classes in the US are gender and race. One cannot discriminate against people based on those immutable chjaracteristics.

That's not true, one can only discriminate in favor of some, and against others.

People are discriminated against every day and it is mandated by law.

Well obviously it is a little more nuanced. SCOTUS has said that discrimination can take placed based on a "compelling governmental interest." Things like affirmative action or keeping women out of combat arms are examples of that.

I am not opining - I am just answering the gentleman's question.

Any time you have a program designed to benefit one race, sex, religion, economic producer, or economic class at the expense of others, you have a protected class.

Affirmative Action

Abortion without the father's consent (except in the case of rape.)

Farm subsidies.

Tax-free income for churches.  (You want to call atheism a religion?  Pony up the tax break.)

Earned Income Credits.  Tax loopholes for that only wealthy corporations can afford.  (Flat tax, anyone?)

A protected class is something like sex, religion, age, etc. that describes you.
Everyone belongs to multiple protected classes. It does not mean that certain people are protected and certain people aren't. Legally, a white male heterosexual christian is in just as many protected classes as a black homosexual famale muslim.
That said, political correctness means the law is often applied unequally.  This is the hypocrisy of the left.

Point being, if you were not hired, or were refused housing, or something else because you are white, or because you are a christian, or because you are not gay, you can take legal action against that person, but don't expect the social justice warriors to be lining up around the block to support you.

That's what it use to be, kinda... class descriptions that were illegal to discriminate against, such as race/ethnicity, creed, etc.

These days however it's just "ONLY groups approved of by libtards"

Supposed to? Is that like, communism wasn't supposed to lead to genocide? Class, like capital, can't be banished by propaganda, even if it's American instead of Soviet origin.

The market isn't inherently biased towards the existence of a middle class. The distribution of skills and assets is based on the technology and environment of the era, and the mid-20th century needed lots of low-end intellectual labor.

That class structure does produce certain social trends, but if the automation of those skills slashes the middle class to 20% of its previous size, that's too bad for the 80% of the 80% who slide into the lower classes.

Anything that is useful in the struggle to suppress capitalism, Christianity, or the values of western civ in general is a protected class.

I keep it simple.

White Heterosexual Male.

Does that describe you?

If you said "no", then chances are, you're protected.

Now, if you're a RICH White Heterosexual Male, then you can just buy protection.

The protected class is everyone in America...unless you have a  couple of strikes' against you.

Strikes:
White
Heterosexual
Male
Gun Owner
Christian
Republican.
Hard Working (unless you're a union member)
Able Bodied.

Automatic disqualification (only needs one of these to get knocked out of the 'protected' class):
Tea Party Member.
Business Owner (the exception is if you hire ONLY protected class members and pay them at 3x the going rate and allow them time off for protests).
Anyone who questions a protected class member
