I have been reading around on this site for some time and decided to see what the people at DU had to saw about things. Much to my suprise it seems like there is a fairly large group over there that actually supports RKBA, some with no restrictions. Some people feel that some "regulations" are a good idea, like waiting periods and whatnot, and I have a feeling many of them could see that the "regulations" are the stepping stones to total banning of guns. Maybe a good conversation could sway them, maybe not. However there seemed to be a small group of highly vocal idiots there. They simply repeat themselves, claim anything pro-gun is lies and anything shown that will prove them wrong they simply ignore the facts and insult you and the place you get the info from. I was interested to see what they have to say over there, as I enjoy seeing the though processes of idiots, it is quite entertaining for me Also you can't argue something if you don't have an understanding of the other side. There seemed to be someone over there giving one of the vocal anti's a hard time, with hard facts.(I was hoping he was arfcommer) The anti could only insult him and his sources, from being racist to have severe mental problems thinking he might need a gun to defend himself is he was ever attacked AGAIN. He had been robbed by gun point once and his house was broken into.

I was just wondering if other people had similar observations about DU.

Outside of web sites like Stormfront, the DU is comprised of some of the most bigoted people I’ve ever seen.

I resisted the urge to start posting, or even get an account, but there were some pro gun people there. A lot more than I expected, but there was A LOT more posts by the idiots that don't look at the facts and resort to insults and words designed to get an emotional response. I just stopped by to see what the other half thinks

Him and one other guy were the worst,but Mrbenchley was the one that wouldn't respond to facts or reason, he would resort to name calling and insults of the people presenting the facts.

I would guess that most of the RKBA crowd is trolling.

The Bush Administration has opened a lot of these liberals' eyes to the perspective of the gun-nut, libertarian aspect of the 2ns amendment.  You have got to remember for most of the DU types, there is just no such thing as "too much government".  Government is wonderful, it's free, all the problems of the world could be solved if we threw more tax money at it, all sorts of wrongs and injustices would be changed if we just talked it over and passed a law.  The "less government" type Republicans are not just crazy for being suspicious of more government involvement in our lives, they must be black-hearted for not wanting to enact all the good it can do.

Then a horrible thing happened to the liberals:  the people who think like they do lost control of all three branches of the federal government.

All of a sudden they can understand the urge to fight a government they feel is oppressive, wrong, and they can not change through civil means.  At least once a week, you see calls for violent revolution on DU, "taking our country back"  "saving our country", "when shall the people rise up?" etc.  Less often, you see threads saying "I finally know what the militia rednecks were talking about when it comwa to guns and liberty".

After both of the last two elections there was more than a few posts by DU'ers about taking up arms due to the "stolen and illegal" outcomes...

I find nearly ALL of the people at DU are rabid, anti-American, Anti-gun, Anti-civil rights and totally PRO UN and not worth talking to.

What seemed like many years ago, IMHO, Democrats *USED* to be "The Good Guys" when LIB meant LIBERTY. They've sold their souls to socialist ideals with some obscure notion of a utopian society were there are no weapons, criminals, hatred, violence, etc, What they never understood was the nature of MAN and the lust for criminal behavior. They also seem to think that submission to aggression equates to survival. If they had their way, there would be no US military, No individuality, no freedom of thought or expression and no self defence, thus, NO AMERICA. But, to show them this, to try to explain it to them, is beyond their graps and they see US, not terrorists as the enemy for they sympathize with the enemy and believe that WE drew first blood. They forget the events of September 11, they forget the events of so many  hijackings, bombings, perpetrated by our enemies that have been happening for years.

They have much political power and use what can only be called "Politically correct" idealism to attract the very young to their ranks, to give acceptance to radical persons, deviate behavior, celebrating "diversity" over unity, and against a nation of oneness. They have brought you "Mexican-American", "African-American", and such where there is no such thing, An American has always been an American, but to them, that notion take away from a persons "identity". They want individual identity, yet want socialism. It is akin to wanting water both hot and cold, but only when either suits their purpose on any given subject.

They, by their very actions, principals, beliefs and morals are treasonous to our constitutional republic. A quote from a movie line describes democracy well, from the movie "The Patriot", Benjamin Martin says "Why should I trade 1 tyrant 3000 miles away for 3000 tyrants 1 mile away, An elected legislature can trample a man's right away just as easy as a king can". The DU folk believe that ANY thought along THOSE lines is "brainwashing", yet they ignore the cold hard truth that our elected legislators, daily trample our rights in ALL 50 states.

Some say that they look forward to a civil war where everything will be decided there. What Republicans and Democrats do not realize is that we're ALREADY in a civil war, faught with political weapons instead of guns. It's a vicious war where the balance of power hangs on but a string. It's a whisper away from forever losing the America that we once knew and entering into the most terrifying new world aristocracy   ever seen. Sadly, they don't realize that they have been duped by foreign influence who's sole intent was from the very beginning to undermine the United States. These DUers Are Americans that sadly, have no concept of what it meand and requires to CONTINUE to be an American.

DU is ALL this and so much more, the more being far worse. It literally is insanity that spreads faster than an airborn virus. Any opposition to them at DU is met with a quick and quite permanant BAN. Many of us HATE them, as for myself, I feel sorry for them, they have no idea of the future of America that they are destroying. They truly believe the spoon fed illusions of utopia will come to pass, what they don't see coming is IMHO, these will be the very people that will put the Antichrist in power while enslaving a once free nation. DU is but ONE fang of a snake who's teeth are burried deep in the flesh of Lady Liberty, pumping deadly venom into the hearts of all.

Everytime I visit that site, I feel unclean. If you want to sense the presence of true HATE and EVIL, DU is the place to do it. I believe Satan himself posts there, he just uses many names as he is the ultimate attention/post whore.

ETA: Here, even thought I believe the CoC is quite intrusive to free expression, we still enjoy a large element of that expression. I have had many of HEATED arguments with fellow member here. The difference is that here at ARFCOM, we CAN have those differences. Weather we like one another or not, we are united in at LEAST ONE cause, FREEDOM, in that, we are brothers. At DU, there are simply many degrees of "enemy". Speak your mind here, and if it's deemed not appropriate, you'll get a warning, maybe a time out depending on seriousness. Do that there and your toast. These are MY thoughts concerning DU, you may or may not agree, that's ok.

I haven't been there for months.  Have they changed the format?  I found it difficult to navigate, but my motivation level was in the basement.  Of course, once you get used to ARFCOM, all other forum formats pale in comparison, IMO.

I thought the same thing, between the idiot MrBenchley making brain bleed and the format making my eyes bleed I had to get out of there. I see the DU bashed so much here so I thought I would see what the fuss was about, and I have to say, Bash away!!!!
