I was listening to the local classical music station (the only music I like, being 19th-century and early 20th century music), and they had a brief NPR news break.  The reporter said that John McCain said that George Bush was wrong when he said that the war in Iraq would be "a walk on the beach," since it has taken a long time and is still not finished.

WTF!!!!!oneone!!111!

When in the hell did Bush say that the war in Iraq would be easy?  He has consistantly said that it would be difficult and long, and that the American people would need patience!  He said nothing else!

How in the hell can these people lie like this and get away with it, when they and reality do not even meet on the tangent line?

This was literally the first time when I ever yelled and screamed while listening to the radio while driving.

So, did McCain vote to authorize sending the troops overseas?  If not, he might have reason to criticize.  If he did, then he needs to be reminded of that ever single time.

And doesn't congress have to keep extending their deployment ever 60 days or something in the absence of a declaration of war? the next time a vote comes up about extending their deployment, he should vote nay if he truly believes they shouldn't be there.

That's not the point.

I don't care if he supports or disproves of the war.

The point is that he blatantly lied about what his president has been saying over the last four years about the war!

As much as I support the conservatives, sometimes they make the third party look good.

He may not have used those words, but he most certainly downplayed how long a process it was going to be in the early days.

McCain is a 3rd-party candidate...

If the GOP lets him run, they will be turning their backs on their base...

Somehow, I doubt he will win the primary - it would take a massive Dem sabotage vote, and they have more important things to do (eg choose their candidate)... The only other option is if a sizable 'moderate' independant blok decides to vote in the GOP primary, but I don't see that happen...

George Allen

Newt

Frist

Etc...

We'll see who gets it, though...

+shut the hell up.  All I have ever heard him say was that it will be long, hard and that many servicemen would be killed.  Everyone blew the "end of of MAJOR combat operations" thing out of the water and assumed that Bush lied and doesn't know wtf is going on.  Well sorry to break it to you if you haven't figured it out by now but he was right and "MAJOR" combat operations have been over since 3rd and 4th ID aswell as the MEF secured the large cities in Iraq and the Iraq army was disbanded.  It is now just fucking occupational duties.  No, they aren't easy.  Yes the enemy is fighting the occupation forces.  What the fuck did you expect?

It's the libtards that understand nothing about war that assumed that major combat operations ending would mean the end of all violence in Iraq.  I just wish the fuckin leftards hated the enemy that kills our men and women overseas as much as they hate George Bush.  They should be saddened when an American soldier or marine is killed but they should also respect his or her sacrifice.  It seems that they are just all too eager to write down another tally mark so that they can bitch some more about how many poor poor stupid redneck/ghetto trash illiterate couldn't-get-into-college boys were mislead and slaughtered and it's all GWBs fault.

Fuck, if I have to hear that line of bullshit one more time I don't know what I'll do.  The 4 brand new privates/specialist in my infantry "team" have a combined 8 years of college, 2 associates degrees, 1 bachelor's degree and all scored in the top 90% on the asvab.  Hell one of them dropped out of UCLA to come fight the war on terror as an infantrymen.  I'd wager that the average IQ in my team is greater than that of most universities and certainly that of the democratic party.

Oh and FUCK YOU John McCain.  Fuckin piece of shit.  You are defined by everything you do but just like Max Cleland your time of running on "I did this in Vietnam" is over.  There are a lot of men that did extremely heroic things in war that does not qualify them to run the country or get a free pass on whatever criticisms they arbitrarily dish out.

Bush expected the Iraqis to welcome us with open arms ( which admittedly they did in the early days immediately after the actual fighting) , said that Iraqi oil profits would be funding our military efforts there, etc. He had no apparent post-war plan that you could show the American people. Call it a liberal complaint if you want, but it certainly looked to me as if he expected it to be more of a cakewalk than it was.

Please point to the concrete statements he made that indicated rose throwing and parades were to be expected within a year or two.  I hear this often and it seems to be based on the opinion of the person belching it forth.  I'm open still to seeing any evidence that suggests he thought it would be wrapped up in a year or two.

Also since when do we lay out, point by point the "plan" for post war occupation?  In order to execute and stick to a "plan" must not the people you work with also follow the plan?  So how does one plan out the enemy resistance and make sure they don't interfere with the "exit strategy" and cause you to have to develope new plans?  If we can't execute exactly the way we desire to then it should not be done at all?

I don't nessisarly think this has been worth the coin expended on it, but I was also not ever disposed of the notion that it would be a walk on the beach.  I'm not sure where Fuck face McCain got that notion either.  So either he's a fool who even after being involved in long, will-withering war, stupidly cast a vote on the notion of a simple, easy, smack down in Iraq or he's a two face shit-bag that votes for something he thinks is popular at the moment and then turns coat to ride public opinion when it moves the other direction.  My money is on option number two.

Try not to get upset with McCain. Who cares what he says about anything? He's an opportunist, and certainly not a "conservative."

He got shot down, held captive, just like hundreds of other men. So that makes him something special? I'm sorry he went through all that but lots of people seem to think that gives him some kind of lock on truth, justice, and the American way.
