I refunded the money. Is my account still screwed?
Payment for what? There are a lot of gun related items that aren't against paypal's rules.
Probably (hopefully) not... unless the other side decided to make a stink.
what was said that made it non-discreet?
Contrary to popular belief, paypal can be used for some firearm related items and accessories. |
What was not discrete about it. I have purchased hundreds of gun related items with PayPal. Invoices were sent with items listed. The companies are still operating on paypal. Don't think you should have an issue.

First time you'll probably get a warning. I know I did once. Then another dude bought an upper receiver from me and put "upper receiver" in the text even though I said discreet and that's when I was banned forever. |
Some folks have to have it spelled out for them............jeez
NO GUN WORDS |

Move available money out of PayPal wallet.
Unlink any bank accounts Close PayPal account Change banks It's the only way to be sure |
I could throw a rock and hit paypal headquarters right now from my hotel room.

Don't feel bad.
A couple weeks ago I copy n pasted a sellers email in the paypal gift screen and sent off $80 for an item. After getting payment confirmation... I noticed a different email. Apparently I sent $80 to a random stranger. I tried multiple times getting ahold of him and contacted paypal for a refund. no luck because sending as a "gift" meant it was an unprotected transaction. Paypal was no help... and the stranger never responded to me. POOF. My $80 was gone... and I still had to send another $80 to the correct person. |
I can tell you that "Kimber Raptor" will get your account cancelled.

Why the fuck is this such a big deal for accessories when eBay sells a shit ton of gun stuff all day long?
Maybe.
I received a payment for a Gunbroker item and in the comments, the buyer only put the items number, not the fact that it was a Gunbroker item, not the fact that the number was even for an item, and Paypal banned us. |

Back when I was 19, they held like $2000 of mine for several months, making me send in all kinds of bull shit that was impossible to come up with. I was selling all kinds of shit I had accumulated over my life, one of their demands was "invoices from my suppliers." Yea, I don't have an invoice for a WWF action figure I bought when I was 9 or the Jerry Rice jersey I bought at 12. Same with the football card collection, fucking assholes. |

In before the buyer complains in the EE that you are being a welcher.

A few years ago I sold some ammunition on the Equipment Exchange and the buyer paid with Paypal and wrote ammunition with the caliber in the comments section, Paypal never caught it, but I sweated it out for a week or two.

$15 dollars little man, put that money in my hand.
Yeah, you're boned. |

Was it for a claymore mine?

I locked down mine and another guy's account by putting "LPK," first time offence.
Trying to figure out how to get them to unlock it was a pain in the ass. |

I don't do nearly enough PayPal business - when someone sends me $27 I know exactly what the fuck it's for, no need to spell it out
I don't see why people feel any need to put any text in there. Your payment goes through, description or not. Save yourself the keystrokes.

Some people are just complete retards. I just refund their shit and sell the item to the next person in line. If you can't bother to read or follow simple instructions you won't receive anything.

I had a person put the Gunbroker auction number in the notes when they sent me money. The girl at Paypal actually copied and pasted the GB# and looked up the auction, she saw that he had paid for an upper. She went ahead and locked my account and sent me a letter that I had to sign that I would NOT do it again. Got my account unlocked and now tell people do not put anything in the note section including auction number they actually know how to look. View Quote Same thing happened to me. They stalk my PayPal auctions. It was AK47 mags with me. |

I don't understand how PayPal can hammer Gunbroker transactions and yet allow "anything goes" everywhere else. I use PayPal to buy shop supplies, tools, groceries, gas, guns, gun parts, ammo, etc.. Never a problem and the gun stuff was right out in the open PSA, Brownells, etc.. But I did get locked an a GB transaction some years ago. WTF is the difference? |

Reason 3,962 why I don't use paypal. I don't have to deal with shit like this. If you have to hide a payment from an authority, you're either in the wrong line of business or using the wrong payment system.
