.... that's right no 7.62x39 anywhere! No Wolf, No Silver Bear, NADA! Just checked CTD and SG and they were out too. I guess the rumors are true about the shortage!

Here is what the SG has to say:

We're sorry, this item (Product: 640 rds. 7.62x39 FMJ Ammo (WX2-92750)) is not currently in stock. This backordered item will be delivered as soon as we get new stock in our warehouse. You will not be billed until the item is shipped.
This item is expected at Sportsman's Guide on April 17, 2006.
If you do not want to order this item, please remove the item from your Shopping Cart.

Oh well...I sold my AK.  I might get another, but I dunno if all centuary ones have a bad trigger bite back.  And I don't want to shell out more then 300 dollars for an AK, so CAI it is if I go back.

Same story here today as well.  The Ggrand Rapids, Michigan show had none to be found.  The guy said he had 20 Cases yesterday, but it sold out quickly.  Hopefully Sportsmans Guide comes thru for me.  I've had 2 cases on order there for a while. There was a guy selling old Norinco for $5 per 20 Rd. box, but I pasted as the last Norinco I bought did not run very well.

I read somewhere that Wolf was doubling shipments to the States, so by summer I bet there is tons of it around.

Funny... I picked up a case of Wolf 7.62x39 at the gun show, in CALIFORNIA, just the other week.. And they had at least 9 other cases of it.

I thought YOUR states were supposed to be "more free" than CA?

17k + posts and nothing to say but bitch about dupes.  I don't think this is a thread about 6 fucking months ago, but about the fact the the gunshow TODAY did not have any fucking ammo.

I think the foriegn ammo manufacturers are taking a leaf of capitalism from the USofA.  It's know as JIT(just in time) manufacturing.  The ammo manufacturers don't stock too much, and they don't make anything until there are firm orders(ie locked in orders with commitments to buy), and of course their suppliers are doing the same thing.  What they manufacturers are doing is shifting the warehousing from themselves to the middleman/importer.   Plus there is transit time, so there is probably a 3-4 month delay for any ammo order to show up on USA shores.

it has  been a bit tight

Make sure that you keep that ammo locked up.  In the state of CA, ammo is known to randomly cause acts of violence and mayhem, especially ammo designed to be spray fired from the hip using a semi automatic assault weapon

You're right, what was I thinking, 2005 ended 6 months ago, none of these threads have any current info in them, no one has posted to any of them in the past 6 months and your post would not have added current and pertinant information to any of them.

This is well off-topic,  but since we are on the subject of ammo in calif, you had better brace yourself, because if Ahnold doesn't get relected, and it looks like he got an uphill batttle at the moment, there will be some kind of ammo restriction bill that will be passed if he loses the next election.  It won't the cake walk he had during his 1st time election.  The Calif Dems were not happy campers when Ahnold vetoed the ammo bill and promise to revisit it after the election.

Not really a shortage just a redistribution of this ammo to governments.  This is essentially a military only round and when governments want it, they get it.  If you were Wolf, would you rather send it all over the world or just to one or two big customers.  I have been able to acquire some 500 rounds of various manufacture this year (no Wolf)  but have not shot a single round of this caliber since last fall when the commercial shortage of this ammo started to become news.

I was at a California gunshow yesterday

Wolf 7.62x39 was $189 a case and there wasnt very much of it

one vendor had a mixed lot of 1000 rds of Chinese 7.62x39 for $265 - $275 ? he said he would only sell it by the whole case

Wolf 9x18 Makarov JHP was $7.95 a box, but he only had 10 boxes total!

I stopped shooting 7.62x39 ammo for now since it's drying up from the market

the ammo I have now is for SHTF

I bet if they could, Wolf would love to sell more commercially.  They probably get double the money in commercial sales as they do in big block gov't deals.  It's just a matter of keeping their whole customer base happy.

 I just walked into a Dunham's (Like your " Big 5 " ) and could have bought an AK-47 , SKS and an AR15 in .223 and .308 with 30 and 20 round mags.

(after filling out the 4473 , no waiting period and walked out the door with it. )

You tell enough people online that there's a shortage and they'll buy the stuff up until there is one.

Give it a few months for all the paranoids and uber-tinfoilists to figure out that they have 10,000 rounds for a firearm they don't even own.    Then the market will become more stable.

Besides... We'll all die off soon because the whole peak oil thing.  I heard it just today!

It was probably due to everyone crashing Cabelas website that time they had Wolf 7.62x39 for $77 a 1000 round case late last year . I know I managed to get an order in for 3k and it showed up, complete with my UPS guy bitching and wanting to know what the hell was in those heavy boxes

Local sportsmans wharehouse had buttloads of 7.62x39 last time I looked.   Only have a Yugo SKS for the cartridge though so it's not a priority buy.   I ordered a couple hundred from SG.   I'll wait paitiently for it.

I've got thousands of rounds of 5.56 on hand anyhow.   Just got another 1K from SG last week.
