Illinois has one of the best sex offender registries going. Most states are getting theirs online and making them easier to search. I keep up with Indiana's as part of my current job assignment. It could be a lot better. These registries are some of the most effective tools ever introduced to fight sexual abuse. Remember, most of these assholes never quit. I have offenders listed in my database in their 70's. The damage they do affects people's entire lives.

Eh, I'm extremely bored. I grew up in Illinois and so I was searching the lists to see if I recognized any of the names.

I'm living in Florida now, and so I checked out that site too. I found a guy that lives on my street. This isn't something I should be doing since I'm home all alone for the month. It's just making me paranoid.

If you have kids, a wife, a sister or mother nearby you owe it to yourself to look up your registry. The sheer number of sex offenders on parole and probation near your neighborhood will amaze you.
If you see where one is living near a school or playground, it would be a good idea to contact the local probation office to let them know. I review reports of rape and child molest every day and I absolutely despise a child molester. There is no lower form of life on earth, even an Iraqi.

Now this is not in his defense, but...
I hate these kinds of cases because all it takes is an accusation by a malicious little cunt and there you have it - sexual misconduct based on the word of a little girl.
This happened recently - my friend was on a jury and they were ready to slam the door and throw away the keys on the teacher for molesting a group of 12-14 year olds, on separate incidents. Next thing you know, the girls retracted their stories!!! THEY HAD LIED TO GET BACK AT THE TEACHER!
Teaching young ones is a risky job.

I had to check. I live in Perveyville apparently...three pages worth of sex offenders in my zip code. Most of them were for sex with a child under 16.

Why do we ever let them back out into society? Can't we just kill them now and save ourselves a lot of trouble? Would our country really be diminished by not having these oxygen thieves out there amongst us?

I'm afraid that if I came across something like what those vermin do, the body would have to be identified through DNA to confirm who it was.

Without getting into a pro/anti death penalty debate, I'll offer the general argument against that. People argue that, if the person is already facing the death penalty for rape, they will decide to kill the only witness. "I could already get executed for raping her, so I've got nothing to lose by killing her. At least that way she can't identify me to the police." But, who knows if that's true. Even without the death penalty for rapists, many still do kill their victim to eliminate the witness.

that kind of logic is why some places have a higher car-jacking/murder rate - because the penalties are similar, why not better your odds and kill the witness?

people that enter prison as a child molester have a better chance of being killed in prison, by other inmates, than inmates that commit any other crime.

Since I have a daughter, I usually check the register here in VA on a regular basis. Running it the other day, I found
a guy listed who I had gone to HS with. Dayum........ Nobody local though....
