Well since the hurricane the wife and I had to move back in with the parents so I guess you could say I am a little deprived. Really cool painting none the less. I wish I was that talented.

I see a lone mountain of pussy, with a forest of dicks surrounding it.

You should call it "Night at the Bar"

very juvenile looking, underdeveloped. dissonance in the color scheme, obviously this wasn't the intent. lacks proper depth and scale. too fluffy, no real substance. seems to be something sgtiam15 would like.

Ispiration: Jackson Pollack and Albert Bierstadt.

Time: Each layer requires drying time. It took many months.

Plans: Show it, sell it.

The art teacher in me says,
"the reflection of the mountain in the water needs to be bigger. Too much negative space in the water."

You definately need to take one of these..... Excellent job.

It's difficult to control 2 gallons of poured housepaint (the lake)

That is a cool painting. Thanks for show it to us.

I was thinking just the other day "Who was it that painted with the weird style (pouring paint)?" I guess it's been a while since you've showed off your work.

Well, you know, I have to say, it's an interesting medium. Certainly less chaotic than Pollock. However... I cannot really give this a good review...

First, an awful lot of those trees, as mentioned, look quite like penises. I mean, too much for me to really believe it's all coincidental. If I were to psychoanalyze you based on the picture, I would have to say... well, you're probably at least subconsciously quite a pervert. The phallic and scatological (urine...) themes are undeniable.

The color really strikes me as glaring and... a little painful, honestly. It has too much symmetry, and I just don't get what this piece is supposed to make me feel.

Final comment, it looks like an illustration from a children's book gone wrong. If I were an art teacher, I would give an A+ for effort, but a C for achievement.

Sorry.

But it's poured paint. How can it be intentional? It's meant to be in the position, and very general color as trees.
ANY penises that YOU see... YOU see.
I don't see any penises.
I see green trees

Don't worry about what you think your supposed to feel.
If it looks cool, it is cool.
If it doesn't, it's not your cup of tea.

People get too intimidated by the imagined "intent" of the artist.

Interesting. Is it "correct" to use that sort of grading method? I mean, its obviously meant to be "puffy" and not perfectly to scale IMO. I like it for what it is, a very interesting piece of art. Well Done.

appreciate the artistic form and medium used.

Art is Art. It's an expression of the artist; it's his and his alone. Not really something to be graded and critiqued. I don't think you should be trying to figure out what you're supposed to be feeling, more than just letting yourself like it, or not. Art appreciation should be visceral. I like it. Especially the water effects; you'd do well in Atlanta.

So it's all poured on? Interesting.

May I ask how much your pieces typically sell for? Do you do commissions? PM me if you prefer. Thanks

No doubt there will be people that understand and appreciate your work as art. Lets just hope you don't have to die before your works get popular! As long as you are satisfied that you did your best and don't go back and constantly fuck with it to try to improve it, it might not drive you insane.

I know jackshit about art. Is your work considered surrealism, impressionist, etc? You still have both ears?
Link Posted: 10/5/2004 1:10:34 PM EST
Congragulations! Really good stuff!

I've been doing some work in mixed media/house paint too, strictly nonrepresentational stuff. Alot of my snob artist friends look down on working in house paint, but fuck them. The Opps! counter at Home Depot is your friend! Try using empty Elmer's Glue bottles to apply it, it holds its shape well. I do my stuff on hollow core interior doors. I like to paint on a rigid surface.

How much does that weigh? How do you plan to hang it?

Great work! Post more pics after your next project.

$5k (shipped)

(the arfcom discount rate)

In a gallery, I'd charge $10k, because they take half.
