Don't forget that the TV stations have complete discretion in who they put on the air - if someone doesn't fit the message they want the public to see, they find another interviewee.  That and you would think the smart ones are somewhere other than waiting around for a camera crew to approach them.

It is no more represenative than the late-night comedian's man on the street camera, less so because politics are involved.

Go to ANY inner city in this country and you will find more of the same. Pockets in the rural areas also. In another couple of generations the ignorant, loser scum will out number the productive, decent members of society. What then?

I work in a jail.   It doesnt matter what color you are, some folks are just plain dorks.   I hear folks of all races talk just like the ones you are seeing on tv right now.   There's alot of stupid people out there hell look at me, I go to jail voluntarily

Part of is that they are in the south so they do have an accent and speak slower.  Most are also not educated.

Oh, yes you have.  Anytime you watch CNN news and they talk about the President and Iraq and the President and any other white person (except celebrities) in relation to blacks.

The last earthquake I went through we didn't have any warning, how about you?  In fact I can't remember one where people were warned.....just saying earthquakes are different....plenty of warning for this hurricane, whether you want to admit it or not.  But you're correct, we should still feel compassion and help.  I just don't feel like all these victims and their supporters have a right to castigate those who are trying to help and demand someone undo Mother Nature's wrath as if it were a tape recording.

I really feel sorry for those people in NO.  When I saw the video of the police in the Wal-mart looting right along side the other folk I had to shake my head.   Lots of places this could happen and I wouldn't choose to live in any of them.

ETA I went through the Northridge Earthquake.  I worked for a Grocery Chain.  They asked for volunteers to work extra (on their days off) in the stores affected by the quake and I did this and saw first hand how things were.  ALL our stores stayed open, though damaged and in some cases a little dangerous.  Our president demanded that the stores stay open ( and even fought off one attempt to red tag a store)  to serve the neighborhoods and never gouged anyone, making an extreme effort to supply all the water and ice people needed.  I'll be the first to admit it was not the cruel conditions we're seeing in NO but people pretty much were reasonable and cooperative.  It went a long way towards fixing the problems.  Attitude is very important in getting through tough times.

I saw one guy that spoke like a cross between Justin Wilson and Biggie Smalls. I wasn't quite sure what to think about that.

You hit the nail on the head, if this were a wealthy area things would be different.  I could care less if these people were green, they are still AMERICANS!!!  They need help, they sure as hell didn't ask for this diaster to befall them.

It seems awful racist of you to think your form of verbal communication is more intelligible or effective than those of the Hip Urbanites™ that were victoms of the hurricane.

The entitlement mentality some of these people have is amazing.  They could have been evacuated in a fucking limo and private jet, and they'd still be bitching.  Gee, just like they bitch when the welfare check is late......

The thing is that instead of being grateful for the help they get they are bitching that it's not enough.   I would be saying thanks for the help, not why didnt you get here sooner.


Also it's not anyone's fault but theirs that they had no preperations nor did they leave when they were told to.    They accept NO personal responsibility for ANY of this.

I think the smart ones got the fuck out of Dodge before the place was leveled.

There are logical reasons for that. First, LA used to be French territory. Second, lots of minorities there. Third, socialism (aka the Democrap Party) where the locals do not produce and are supported by the productivity of outsiders. Look at other parts of the world: Algeria, Nigeria, Haiti, etc... See the pattern?

Unfortunately, that is not an inaccurate depiction of the "average" American.

Average IQ has been set at 100.  That means half are above, and half are below.
