"Socialist ideology, like so many others, has two main dangers. One stems from confused and incomplete readings of foreign texts, and the other from the arrogance and hidden rage of those who, in order to climb up in the world, pretend to be frantic defenders of the helpless so as to have shoulders on which to stand." - Jose Martí - Cuban Statesman & Patriot
¡Cuba Libre!
¡Patria o Muerte!
He was right on that and so many other issues involving Cuba and her future. He was against foreign entanglements including becoming involved with the USA. Though those reasons were because he didn't want to environment to be created in which one was open to corruption and despotism.
Cuba's close relationship to the USA sadly had a major part in her fall to the lies of Castro. It allowed corruption to run rampant and wild. But that is for another day.
Today, Cuba is an example of how a nation can fall under the sway of Socialism and stay there. Many here want the Embargo to continue under the belief that the Cuban People will rise up and overthrow the Marxist regime.
Well, it won't... it has been 56 years since Castro rolled into Havana on that New Years Day. 56 years... five generations of children born under socialism. 56 years in which the memory of a pre-socialist Cuba has been removed from the cultural memory of the Cuban People.
If God had Jesus come down from Heaven tomorrow and wiped Cuba free of the government, the governed would still set up a system in place just like what they had the day before.
Heed the warning, if the issues that need to be corrected in America aren't done within a generation's time. The chance of correction will drop to near impossibility. The Eastern Bloc and the USSR was not the common end result, but I fear a fluctuation.
They fell due to external pressures, not just internal. But the People of the former Warsaw Pact don't fear socialism, they simply fear Russian Occupation again. The People of the former USSR, don't fear socialism either... it is the Authority of the State and Putin that they fear.
America's greatest risk is that all of the external pressures on her are socialistic. So both internal and external pressure will sadly push us closer and closer to Socialism.
Stay vigilant...
