I get annoyed by Hollywood liberalism.  However when it goes so extreme and someone sticks by their batshit crazy princicples so closely you really do have to just sit back and admire it.

I like her.  Go find those aliens.  And Contact was a pretty intellegent film.

http://news.yahoo.com/jodie-foster-helps-revive-seti-search-aliens-181202490.html

edit - I added Contact to my Netflix.  Oddly enough I first saw Contact with a chick who I worked with who admired Jodi Foster and seem to have the same interest in men as she does.  (ie not straight, not gay, but "other".)

thought she was kinda sexy in Nell and silence of the lambs.

if she talked dirty to me in that deep southern accent, I'd be all over that.

She stood behind Mel Gibson in his time of need. Nobody else in Hollywood seems to value friendship and loyalty like that.

Thought she was hot in Taxi Driver!
(Kidding!)

Never found her attractive, but admire her for taking control of her career and directing. Most child stars flop.

And I also admire her for standing beside Mel Gibson when he went through all his troubles, even hired him for that Beaver movie.

I'd throw her on a pinball machine and hit it hard.
And Contact was awesome.  My only beef was that it would have been trivial for her to expose the time discrepancy issue at the end of the movie.  It would have been one of the first things her character thought of.  She's too smart not to have.  Also the suggestion that the signal had been faked with a satellite would have been easily disproved and was in fact one of the first things they checked and discounted when they first discovered the signal.

Yes, he was.  But when your in the shit is when you find out who your friends are.  Jodi Foster stayed loyal, EVEN THOUGH it was a fucked up situation, and it would be easy to walk.

Valuing friendship above political expediency means something to me.  And it's just as noble, if not more so.

I suppose. What about all the people standing beside Obama despite his trainwreck?

I don't think everyone agrees that Obama is a trainwreck...  It was clear as day to everyone that Mel Gibson was flushing his career, and possibly his life, down the drain.   And besides, there's a difference between personal friends, and political hangers-on.

But your right that it's not a good idea to stand by someone like that.  Which is the whole point.

I do not find her attractive, her pinched nose being a large detractor. But the worst is her voice, very annoying accent.

OTOH I do think she has some fine qualities, noted above how she stood by Mel Gibson. I guess the people in here that look at that negatively have never had someone they know have a mental breakdown and don't understand that things like this are out of a persons control. Cudos to her for knowing this and sticking by Mel Gibson.
