I love these guys movies(then again Im a Beavis and Butthead fan too) are these all of them-
Clerks MallRats Dogma Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back Anyone else like their movies? |
Jay and Silent Bob are the shit.
its kinda funny watching interviews of them though.... they seem exactly like their characters, even during serious interviews. "I AM THE CLIT-MASTER!" Jay |
I worked at a small bookstore for several years during and after high school. I swear, Kevin Smith must have worked in a store exactly like mine, otherwise he never could have come up with Clerks.
There’s something about Jay and Silent Bob that’s just plain hilarious to me. Maybe it’s that I’ve known some people like them, I don’t know. But I’ll watch anything they’re in. |
BONNNNNNNNNNG!!
We're gonna shoot eachother and fuck like stoned test bunnies! |
Kevin Smith is a really good comedy director, but I haven't seen any of his drama films. Unless you count Dogma.
"What you need is a fatty-boom-batty blunt, and I guarantee you'll be seeing a sailboat, an ocean, and maybe even some of those big-titted mermaids doing some of that lesbian shit. Look at me, look at me, you sloppy bitch!"
you don't say. I can't say I am shocked. but the dude is funny as hell. |
Clerks II look like it might be good.
I saw a clip where Jay hears the music that played in Silence of the Lambs when the psycho killer was in his basement dressed in women's panties and start dancing...well Jay starts doing all the moves and looks just like the guy soooo funny. |
I liked Clerks, Mallrats and Jay and Silent Bob strike back, but the rest of their movies are'nt that good. Dogma sucked bad.
I tried to watch Dogma but was bored to tears in about 20 minutes and changed the channel, My BIL says its good but I couldn't get into it
No, no, no, go and get the DVD. Dogma in all its splender cannot be experienced on TV. You changed the channel after 20 minutes? At first I was offended as hell, but the second time I watched it I loved it. Get the DVD and try it again.

He was, but the last I read (on ViewAskew's forums), he had cleaned himself up with help from Kevin. Make like a fuck, bezerker!!!! |
Probably the funniest comedy team since Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. Or maybe the 3 Stooges.
I went and rented it and must admit I LIKED IT! It was a little slow at times but over all pretty funny. Now I get some of the stuff in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back that I didnt get before. ETA: Now I just have to see Chasing Amy and Ill be all caught up until Clerks II comes out |
It was a good movie but I wish I hadn't watched it, for one I HATE movies that end that way, and two it hit WAY to close to home for me. At least I know that I have been 'Chasing Amy' myself doesn't make it easier though Now that I have seen all the movies I need to add them to my collection |
I love Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks was okay, and I didn't really get into Chasing Amy all that much.
I hate to bring this one up but...Jersey Girl. There's some good parts, so so IMO. By far Mallrats and Clerks are the best.

Jason (Jay) was a heroin and Oxycontin (sp?) addict but Kevin (SB) told him is he cleaned up he put him in another movie, so he did after six months clean. Then he told him if he made it six years clean the do a Jay and Silent Bob Go to Space, type movie. Jason's been clean three years.
All this according to recent interview with Kevin in Playboy. |
If you want to see something fascinating and hilarious at the same time watch "An Evening With Kevin Smith". It's composed of excerpts from his college tours.
There is also a new one coming out. |
And aperently the character Jay is him. Kevin wrote that part pretty much about Jay, and then after not being able to find someone to play it correctly he just Hired Jay to play himself. |

Clerks is still my favorite comedy film. If there was a "what 'Clerks' character are you?" test, I'd probably be Dante...but I'd rather be Randal! He had the best lines.
J&SB was pretty good, too. The audio commentaries on any Kevin Smith DVD are a "must-listen" Lots of great behind-the-scenes talk. Am I the only one here that likes the Clerks cartoon? Only two were shown on ABC, but 6 completed episodes were released on a 2-DVD set. I thought they were pretty good. I might be the only one with this perpective, but when I watched the ending of "Clerks," in my head I was hoping that Dante & Randal would try to make something out of themselves after coming to the realization that they weren't much better than the flaky customers they dealt with. Judging from the commercials for C2, it looks like they didn't move on, did they? I know it's just a movie, but that's what I thought after watching C1. That being said, I'm still looking forward to Clerks II. -Scott |

You all forgot Kevin Smiths first movie...Drawing Flies.

What was that one thing Jay did to the guy in the mall?
What is a "Stinky Palm"? I almost lost it watching the guy eat the food afterwards. |
<--------
Can't stand them More than 2 or 3 times a week that is. TXL |
Those are great! Who is driving?? Oh no bear is driving!!!??! |
The "Stink Palm"!!!! Stick your hand down the crack o' yo' arse and give a hearty shake to someone you don't like... That guy was eating some gooey chocolate covered pretzels I think..... |
I like them as part of the "hit and run" comedic sub-character aspect of a movie.
Never knowing when they will show up, or what they will do or say. Their roles in Clerks was perfect. Not too much or too little. When they move from sub-character to main characters though, as they were in Dogma or in JASBSB, there just isn't much substance to them and their characters become very boring and very one dimensional very quickly. |
I caught that on i think HBO one night, i laughed till i had tears coming down. cant wait to see the new one when it comes out. |
Just saw Clerks II and it was funny as hell, I could have done w/o Jay dancing naked but it was still funny. I wished they had a LITTLE more of JASB but it was a very good movie and will be going in my collection when it comes out.
I thought it was as good as the original if not better |
From what I understand, Jay is EXACTLY like that in real life. Back in my Jersey days, I worked with a girl that was out with some friends one night. They were in a bar and one of her friends passed by him and he slapped her ass and made a funny-ass comment (can't recall what it was though). After cursing him out, my friend told her who it was. She still had no idea who he was. This girl isn't a bullshitter, I believe her story. On another note, Kevin seems like a cool dude. I went to a "Premier of Jersey Girl and Kevin came out afterwords for a Q/A session. Quick dude and as funny on the spot as in his movies. When someone made a "Where was Jay?" comment he kind of beat around the bush. After a few comments from the audience about his problem and his rebuttles, it seemed pretty clear he was in some kind of rehad program. |

And the band TOOL are socialists, normaly I am very politically picky in what I watch/listen too, but a guy has to make sacrifices form time to time. |
Whillenholly: And might I add, that is one fine looking boy you are raising.
Jay: Hell yeah, that's because he's from my sperm. See, I knocked up this hot woman friend of ours that I fuck on the side so as to not be all the way gay, but my tubby husband here is 100% queer. He LOVES the cock. |
I thought Chasing Amy was weak. Jersey Girl is the only one I haven't seen.
