I went to a conference in late October after the attack, and one of the speakers was a Merrill Lynch honcho who described how the various NYSE, Archipeligo networks, etc all worked to get the market up and running in a week after the attack. Once it was open, there was a really bad sell off, hundreds of points down in the Dow for 2 weeks. |

But any import "embargo's" will be the hammer upon that deathnail. And I fear the Trillions of Yen they are injecting to the world economy is just money they won't have for the cleanup. |

They are going to have to dump a bunch of US holdings/bonds/etc to generate cash for cleanup.

My mutual lost over $4000 in the past 12 hours.
Its prospectus suggested investing in Tupperware and Buick, along with mining equipment stocks. Guess which one took a flaming nosedive? (Hint: it involves raw material used in nuclear manufacturing). |
