CAPTURED
www.fbi.gov/mostwant/topten/fugitives/alfonso.htm

Aliases: Michael Johnson, Jose Jimenez

This son of a bitch went on the FBI most wanted and with every gun I have bought since then I have been delayed on the background check.

My name is Michael Johnson! One of his aliases.
I am a 280 pound white guy!!! I bet I look just like him don't I???
Damn! Delayed Delayed Delayed Delayed Delayed!

I just was delayed today for a Ruger 10/22. So I get to wait until tomorrow to get it.

I hope them capturing this ass hole means I will stop getting delayed.

thats funny, like a fugitive would go to a gunstore and use one of his known names to buy a weapon.

So you think that there are no more Michael Johnsons on the fugitive or ex con rosters. You will be delayed forever.

My name is not freaky, but uncommon enough to SAIL right through...

I was never delayed until this jackass got on the list. I'm hoping it goes back to the way it was.

Are concealed carry permits available there? If you have one you aren't subjected to a NICS check when you purchase a firearm.

I have my permit, but they still do NICS.

Hmmm. It must be different for Alaska residents. I'm not subject to a NICS check due to my permit. BTW, I happened upon a website with info on carrying concealed:

I got one before legislation was passed deleting the requirement. I'll keep the one I have updated just to forego the NICS check.

(and there are a few gray areas concerning the "no CCW required" legislation. Some municipalities still require one from what I understand. I figured I'm covered either way. I highly recommend everyone take the concealed carry course regardless. There's some good information to be be learned....)

Could be worse; at least your name isn't "Jose Jimenez".

Not here in FL. It used to be that way and they grandfathered some people but I've had my CCW for 4 years so I think they're all renewed by now.
I have to NICS and do an INS check each time. No waiting period though.

Hunh. I guess that's just one more reason to keep living in Alaska, "The Last Frontier", "The Great Land", or "Paradise". I pulled the following excerpt from www.packing.org:

HB 102, took effect June 11, 2003 and changes Alaska Statute 11.61.220 to allow anyone who may legally carry a firearm to also carry it concealed without having to obtain a special permit if 21 years of age or older. The possession of a firearm at courthouses, school yards, bars and domestic violence shelters will continue to be prohibited. Alaskans may still obtain a concealed carry permit if they want reciprocity with other states or want to continue to be exempt from background checks when purchasing firearms.
