Watched it, expecting Pickle Rick...got the feeling I've been cheated, instead. Good episode, tho.

Meh. It was certainly Rick and Morty but it was not that good an episode.

I'll watch it again when it doesn't include that fucked up family.

Not a bad episode. I'd give it a 6/10. Big armed Morty was cool.

Don't over think it. He was a fucking pickle...just shut up and be impressed

I guess I could have done without Susan Sarandon running her trap for half the episode. If they have to go to family therapy at least make it funny. View Quote I think that's the point. The therapy visit is supposed to suck, and it's supposed to suck hard enough that Rick turned himself into a damn pickle to get himself out of it. Only, Rick's plans went very wrong, and he spent most of the episode trying to fight his way into the very place he worked to avoid: the therapist's office. I see the dysfunctional family drama stuff as a sort of frame of reference counterpoint that keeps you partially grounded in something more normal/relatable. It develops the characters, and it adds humanity to them. It's not the most interesting part of any given episode, but it shapes the way we view the characters when they're in another dimension with weird shit going on. |

I've only watched the first 3 episodes of season 1. Does it get better?

The stuttering made it difficult for me to get started, but either I got used to it, there's less of it after the first several episodes, or both. When you get further into the first season, it the show suddenly gets much deeper and darker. View Quote |

I'm stoked to see all the love for this show here. Rick cracks me up it's one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time. |

I liked it...not quite worth the hype, but still satisfying. While watching it, I too, hated where she went full monologist...I was hoping rick had one more battery.

Aside from the first episode, the new season is pretty crappy.
The writing has for whatever reason abandoned the typical dynamic between Rick and Morty which had made the first two seasons excellent, and instead focuses on the more weird and off-the-wall science-fiction aspect of the show which was never strong enough to carry it. Then they threw the divorce and therapy thing in there, which seems kind of forced. The second and third episodes are pretty weak, but they did have their moments. I'm guessing it's because they hired new writers who really don't understand the show. |
