What you people think is black-n-white are shades of gray.
A couple of percentage points sets you people off like the cock of the walk all proud and shit. 
During the civil war/war between the state/war of northern aggression things were much more easy to divide. The differences that divide this nation have very little to do with the state geographical political boundaries. The people in that county I live in has little to no resemblance those in Los Angeles county or San Francisco. Prior to a bunch of people moving here in 2004 during the real estate boom when home prices here tripled in six years the county was more conservative than Texas. It would seem that the 30% growth we had during those years were all liberals from other states coming here to fuck this place up. 
People play the tribal card here all day long every day so artificially proud of the place of their birth. Sort of like those that get all excited that we won the NFC championship ... we, did you suit up on Sunday and I missed you? I do suppose the cheerleaders count somewhat ... both in football and politics. Drop a few thousand dollars in the election effort next time. Spend a hundred hours on the phone banks ... then feel proud. |

is urban, densely populated areas, states with large urban areas as opposed to less densely populated areas, states with smaller percentages of urban areas (large cities).
the denser the population, the greater the organs of the state feel impelled to impose control, probably because the denser the population, the more concentrated crime is. the nation has been moving from a mostly rural to a mostly urban demographic for over 100 years. as the rust-belt, left coast and old midwestern manufacturing states urbanize and their populations grow in comparison to the less densely populated southern, southwestern and western states, the more power they yield nationally, and the more the politicians that come from those areas feel compelled, as they are locally to control the national population, much to the consternation of 'free' states.. europe and asia show the way, and its only a matter of time until this country evolves into the same sort of government with the same control and limited freedoms of its citizens. |

I think the country will divide neatly into two halves:
the half where the citizens have free elections to vote for their government representatives vs the half where free elections take place to determine who will be the government representatives. Oh, the bloodshed and carnage awaiting us all with nasty big teeth! |
